It took six years to realize I didn't like the "sewing" part in sewing patterns

I found the cutting and laying out of fabric tedious. The sewing, nipping, and tucking felt time-consuming. I would start a project and stop in the middle. The only projects that I can remember finishing was the ones I did in sewing class and made for gifts. I was incredibly frustrated with my progress.

It was the "pattern" aspect that I enjoyed the most. In contrast to sewing, I loved spending hours browsing the Internet for fabulous patterns and fabric that I could combine to make something truly spectacular. I found it to be gorgeous in its design more so than function. The colors and prints in different coordinating matches allowed for a unique look that I loved putting together.

I'm sad that I won't ever be an expert sewer. However, now that I have accepted that fact, It makes sense. I like to be surrounded by beautiful and well-crafted things; whether it is something I am creating with my hands or hiring someone to make for me.

Long story short, I'm glad I changed course. I do all of the legwork in finding sewing patterns and partnering it with particular color selections and fabric combinations. Even though I accidentally fell into this, It will take me a while to figure out how to combine my creative and logical side to make this work.

Watch my progress and wish me luck.

Taking a vintage sewing pattern and marrying it to a modern look and aesthetic is the perfect style combination. Visually everything comes together for a look that unapologetically tells the story of the person wearing it.
