My name is Denise and I'm a British artist based in London in the UK where I paint, make prints from my paintings, make unique pieces of jewellery and sometimes venture into bags, cushions and other fun things too
I paint contemporary paintings of animals and birds; cats, dogs, sheep, cows, foxes, all sorts of animals, as well as the odd landscape or flower painting. I love colour and I'm always trying new ideas in paint and other materials to get luscious, fabulous colour into my work. Colour brings us joy and makes the world an nicer place. .
Wearable Art
I've taken that philosophy into making jewellery pieces, necklaces, brooches and earrings. I wanted a colourful and joyous form of wearable art, after all, art shouldn't just hang on the wall. I create pieces using resins, pigments and gold leaf, and sterling silver. Each piece is unique. I make leaves, cats and dogs, hares and foxes, birds and badgers, elephants and bears, penguins and parrots, all sorts of animals and birds.

Accidental Jeweller And Painter Of Animals

I'm a really a painter, I love painting animals and birds. Exploring in paint a sense of dynamic movement as a cat leaps or the alert poise of a hare as he listens to the wind. I work in oils, mixed media and these days also in watercolour and inks. I love colour and I'm always trying new ideas in paint and other materials to get luscious, fabulous colour into my work. Colour brings us joy and makes the world an nicer place.

The Accidental Jeweller

Recently I've started making jewellery and it's become a bit of a hobby. It was accidental really. I wanted to experiment with some new techniques and materials, I had tried these paints and metallics on some autumn leaf paintings and they were beautiful but very expensive to make. I am sooo addicted to autumn leaves! When the next autumn season arrived I needed to do some more leaves to feed my habit.
I loved the colour and pattern I was getting from the paints but I needed a much smaller canvas to work on. I cut myself some leaf shapes and played with those. They worked well and those first experiments became the brooches, a sort of wearable art. After all if you love it you should be able to take it with you. And I did, I pinned the new leaf brooches on my hat. :-)
Encouraged by the leaves I started making foxes, cats, dogs, badgers and hares. I shared photos of those first experiments on Facebook and suddenly had orders and special requests. One day somebody stopped me in the street and asked about the brooches on my hat and bought one then and there. This happens so often now that my other half refers to my hat, rather snippily, as the 'mobile shop'.
That's how I accidentally started making jewellery in my spare time, once a day of painting is over.

Custom orders can't be returned unless they arrive damaged or defective.
IS IT FAULTY?
If disaster strikes and your item arrives damaged during shipping please take a photograph of the problem and contact me immediately via Etsy and I will be happy to help, either with a replacement or a refund.
SHIPPING RETURNS
Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs and items must be returned by tracked mail. If returning an item from outside the UK please clearly mark parcel with 'RETURNED GOODS' so that any customs fees are not applied to the returned items.
If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.

By International TRACKED Airmail: approximately 5-10 days from dispatch, sometimes longer depending on your local postal service.

Each piece of jewellery is a handmade, unique piece. To keep it looking its best, please avoid chlorine and harsh chemicals. Clean gently with a soft cloth so as not to scratch the surface. Please don't leave it underwater or wear in the sea.
