◆Hello, my name is Dennis Floyd...and growing up I believed all art to be a complete waste of time. Consequently, in high school I filled my school schedule with math and science.
Nevertheless, in my senior year, a friend kept trying to get me to sit in at just one of his art classes. For he was convinced that not only would I enjoy it, but I needed it.
So finally, one afternoon I reluctantly went to his art class, and I was handed a brush, paper and watercolors for the first time in my life.
However, when I used the brush to wet the paper and then touched the paper with the brush loaded with Cadmium Orange watercolor… it was gloriously beautiful how it flowed. And because I spent the rest of that day painting... that day changed not only all my thinking about art, but my life as well.
Today... I’m inspired by our beautiful planet, its amazing creatures high and low and by each sunrise and sunset.
I've seen the Aurora Borealis on a dark night and I’m thrilled by the heavenly night sky and our Milky Way galaxy, always looking for the North Star... to find my way home.
Yet, it is the kindness of the friends I’ve met along the way... that has inspired me the most.
Thanks for visiting my Etsy shop.

◆SERIGRAPH PRINTING - SCREEN PRINTING
…and although there's way more to it, here’s a basic summary on how it’s done…
◆First, I create an original art composition and a handmade print-ready screen for each color. If the art composition requires 10 colors, 10 print-ready screens are required. (After printing each color, the print matrix on the screen is destroyed).
◆Next, I carefully register the screen to the print. If it’s not perfect, the whole print could be ruined.
◆Then, I carefully mix the ink (it must be just right) and place it on the screen.
◆Finally, I hand pull each color, onto the Stonehenge 100% cotton archival printing paper.
◆However, numerous factors can affect how the ink is transferred to the paper. And because each color is hand pulled, each color lays down in a slightly different way... and it is for that reason each print is unique.
◆Therefore, although printing these works of art is a labor intensive process, it is a labor of love... as each completed print in a limited-edition series, is exciting to produce.

◆TO FRAME OR NOT TO FRAME?
The real question is... DO YOU WANT YOUR ART TO LAST?
Framing should protect the art it displays... for decades.
Yet too many times the acids in the mats and backing materials damage the art and the glass allows destructive UV light to destroy the image colors... leaving the art ruined.
Although we use archival materials, to help preserve your valuable art on display, use only 100% archival mats and backing. And always use UV protective glass or plastic over your art.
or
Buy art installed on neutral surfaces such as our CANVAS PRINTS, with a protective UV sealer.
◆And for all your art... please avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or other intense lights
