So lovely, it is tricky to order art online, but turned out even better than my expectation! We have found a home for it in our house and we will be passing this beauty on to kids/grandkids. But let's not rush things, ha! Have a good day and hope we can cross paths at another art show!

This print is beautiful! The colors are just as vivid as the photo. Thank you!
Artist Derek Collins The Who's and the Why's
I have been a Professional Artist for 30 years, my sole income is from art. I have exhibited in many of the top ranked juried art shows from Texas to the East Coast. See a partial show list at the bottom! Some of these shows receive from 800 to 2000 applications from artist across the nation, with only 250 being chosen to exhibit. The competition is fierce, I have been fortunate enough to have been chosen to exhibit in this caliber of show nearly 300 times. I'm getting older all the time and so is the continual traveling. So, I have turned my attention to the internet. Hopefully this will allow me to paint more and will lower my expenses allowing me to offer you Gallery quality paintings at affordable prices. I am Gallery represented. I have won many awards for both abstracts and landscapes. One of my paintings is in the National Museum of Sports Art. I give demonstrations in Schools and Churches. I have sold over 1000 paintings on Ebay with 100% positive feedback. Please! Ask any questions you may have. Thanks for stopping, I appreciate your consideration.
Why I paint and where I live:
Painting took me quite by accident. At the age of 26, I had a serious back injury, which left me literally laying on the floor, flat on my back for 7 weeks. As I lay there watching TV, I happened upon PBS. I saw Bob Ross doing painting demonstrations. He is the fuzzy headed guy painting happy little tree, oil paintings. I had an epiphany watching him paint a scene of a waterfall. I got a set of paints and 6 months later I started selling paintings. I have never looked back. I live in Memphis, Indiana which is 12 mile from Louisville Kentucky, with my wife and 2 sons. We live in a restored 1924 farmhouse and I have a working studio/gallery that I built in a barn behind our home.
A common thread you will always see in my paintings is the Light. Look for the Light, what direction is it coming from? Look for the shadows. Look for the sparkling Highlights. I paint very freely with a very minimal plan, usually with no drawing or sketching. I draw with the paint. Often in the middle of a painting, I will see something happening, and I have learned over the years to always go with the feeling. When this happens, an abstract may turn into a landscape or visa versa. I don't plan color schemes, they happen instinctively, When I put a red on the canvas, that red will tell me the shade green that I should put beside it, almost without thought. It took me many years to get to this level of freedom. When I first started painting decades ago, my paintings were very tight and I used very small brushes. I would draw everything out first, in great detail . With each passing year painting becomes more like play. I guess it's true! When you get old you become like a child again. Anyway, thanks for stopping, I hope you enjoy my paintings.
