Authentic accessories for the discerning historical costume enthusiast

When I was a little kid, my mom read Little House on the Prairie to me. At my request, she made me a sunbonnet to wear -- this triggered a minor obsession that I have to this day. From playing dress-up then to researching and constructing skin-out historical outfits now, I love the way costumes let you try on another life for a little while.

Little by little, I've taught myself how to make all kinds of historical things. I'm always reading books and looking at pictures of surviving artifacts from different time periods to learn how various items were made by the people who actually used them. Whenever possible I try to include this information in my listings.

In addition to striving for historical accuracy, I work hard to make my items usable. I have spent many a weekend (and longer) running around, working like a dog, cooking over an open fire, and once even climbing up a mountain (partly in the snow!) wearing and using historical gear. I've been there and lived to tell about it, and the things I make reflect my commitment to true living history.

I love making and wearing costumes, and everything I sell is made by me with love and enthusiasm! I use high-quality, durable materials for all of my historical pieces. I want your items to withstand the rigors of years of use for historical reenactment. In addition to my current listings, I am always interested in custom orders; contact me if you want a one-of-a-kind historical treasure :)

My home is fanatically smoke free. I do have a (totally awesome) dog; while I love putting hats on him, I promise I don't put anything I sell on him. I keep him out of my work area and keep everything as clean as possible. While I make every effort to ship my items without bonus puppy fur, I know intellectually that some gets past my radar.

Payment
I accept PayPal and now Etsy Direct Checkout, which includes Etsy gift cards. Custom orders are started after either a previously agreed upon deposit or the full purchase price has been paid.
Shipping
Domestic orders: I ship using USPS first class mail, and I include insurance on items valued over $50. Ready made items ship within 1-3 business days from when your order is placed, and typically arrive in 3-7 days after being shipped. If you would like to upgrade to priority mail (for an additional charge), please contact me. Custom orders will take longer to ship; please check individual listings for turnaround times and contact me if you have questions.

International orders: International orders are also shipped via USPS first class mail, and can take anywhere from 12 to 30 or more days to arrive, depending on your region and the whim of the postal service. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do about this. If you would like to upgrade your international shipping to a potentially faster option (which will cost extra, and in my experience unfortunately *still* does not actually guarantee faster shipping), please contact me. Also please be aware that items can get held up in customs, and may be subject to additional fees imposed in accordance with your country's regulations and which you will be responsible for.

Please make sure your shipping address is correct at the time you check out; both PayPal and Etsy are pretty insistent that sellers can only ship to your "confirmed" address, plus incorrect addresses can delay or prevent your order from arriving.

Christmas shipping deadlines for ready-made items:
Domestic orders: 12/14
International: 11/31

Christmas deadlines for made-to-order and custom items are dependent on the specific item. Please contact me if you have questions or have a deadline.
Refunds and Exchanges
I pack very carefully to prevent damage during shipping, but should an item arrive damaged please email me a photo of your item and the damaged packaging within a week of its arrival so I can issue a refund or send you a replacement.

Like all Etsy sellers, I work hard to accurately represent my listings through photos and descriptions. If you ever need more information about an item please convo me. If you are not satisfied with an item please contact me and we'll figure out a solution. If you do find it necessary to return an item you will need to pay return shipping, and I cannot issue a refund until the sold item actually makes it back to me, and in its original condition. A custom order cannot be returned (although if damaged in transit see my policy above), but I will work with you to help make it right.
Additional policies and FAQs
Custom orders: please convo me with as much detail as you can about what you want, and links to similar items in my shop. I'll probably ask you a few follow-up questions, then post a reserved listing for you. Once you have placed your order I will make and ship your item as soon as I possibly can -- for some items this will be within a week, for others longer (I will always let you know an estimate of when your item will be finished, and I will keep in touch with you throughout the process).
