Announcement   Hello and welcome to my Boutique! If you are looking for modern, unique and designer's handmade keep sake pieces, you come to the right place. Enjoy!

I am a graphic designer by profession, photographer, textile and jewelry designer by passion. For more items visit my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/designbybehin

I like unique and special things and not mass produced so I try for my creations to have unique designs. I make my accessories in very limited numbers, and only duplicate a design per my client's request and availability of the materials. Some of my pieces I can't duplicate since I buy my raw materials in my travels, and won't be able to get them again.

I accept custom order for jewelry and textile. Convo or email me if you are interested in an item that is not on my Etsy page and it is on my Facebook. If the item is available I will be happy to post it on Etsy for you to order or come up with a one of a kind new design for you.

Again, completely gorgeous. I wasn't sure what the satin-grey would look like in person, but they are more beautiful than the photos. I love the ear wires. So happy. Thank you so much!

These earrings are even more beautiful in person. They shimmer in the sunlight, and they are the perfect color purple for me. I opened the package and said, out loud to no one, "I love them!" Just gorgeous. Thrilled! Thank you!

About

Designer pieces. Unique. Mondern. Handmade. Keep sake. Eastern inspired.

As a young child I went to sleep listening to the clicking sound of my mother’s knitting needles. I liked watching her knit and I was fascinated with how she could make the balls of yarn turn into beautiful clothing. She taught me how to knit when I was very young and I remember wishing that I could learn to knit as fast as her, so I could make the same sound with the needles. She designed and made everything by hand for us; luxurious winter coats, jean jacket, wedding dress for her clients...and her craft was exceptionally amazing. The attention she paid to details and doing so many things perfectly by hand, because she wouldn't even trust the sewing machine on certain things, and did them by hand immaculately, is what I hope to accomplish in my designs and be like her. I watched her pushes boundaries and do things out of the normal rules of sewing and knitting and she made one of a kind creations, and anywhere I go and had something she made on, everyone were talking about it.

I was born in Tehran, the capital of Iran. I came to US 22 years ago after I lost my mother, and after going through revolution and war in my country. I studied graphic design in the College of DAAP (Design, Architecture, Art and Planning) at the University of Cincinnati and graduated in 2004. I started knitting again in 2001 and I loved it so much that I soon started my own textile line. I started designing jewelry in 2005 after I used gemstones and Swarovski cyrstals in my scarves for a show in an art gallery. My education opened my eyes to a whole new world, the wonderful world of design, where I could explore and learn. Soon I noticed how I could use colors as dominant elements in my designs. Selecting unique and unusual color combinations bring so much pleasure in the creative process for me whether I am working on a scarf, creating a piece of jewelry, or a graphic design project.

In my jewelry line I use my graphic design education and what I have learned about design elements such as color, asymmetry, contrast, harmony, lines, curves, size, and sometimes a spice element. I look to create pieces that are unique, and special. I try to create keep sake pieces, to make someone feel special, the way I have kept the pieces my mother has made for me for years. I research and explore gemstones, and I mix and match materials and treat every jewelry design piece as a graphic design project. I spent so much time and pay attention to each piece, and every little details. I also put my heart and soul to it, and each piece has its own story.

In my textile line I look for special textures and the way the yarns feel. I mostly use Italian yarns because of their luxurious feelings and versatile textures. I experiment with many materials and how they work with different needles.

I have been fortunate enough to live both in the Eastern and Western worlds. Both worlds have inspired me in different ways and this is reflected in my work. The collections I create are sentimental to me. In many ways it resembles my life; it has a past and a present, and each chapter is special to me. The way a scarf drapes sometimes reminds me of Persian miniature paintings of beautiful women with their traditional clothing and flowing scarves. Sometimes I feel nostalgic when I look at my scarves; I see my past and the east world in them. I get my inspiration from many things including, Persian arts and poetry, photographs, and everything around me. It is an amazing feeling to see colors and what you can do with them and I still get a thrill wearing a vibrant red scarf on a snowy day.

My work is about colors and textures, and is a memory of special winter nights in a place far from here falling asleep to the sound of my mother’s needles, and is the memory of my mother’s kind hands and the time that she spent patiently teaching a 6 year old girl how to knit…

I hope you enjoy it.
