About

Kitchen Table Printmaker

I took printmaking in college and fell in love with it, but I am also a painter, so dividing time between my own studio and a printmaking studio wasn't a possibility. I found a way to harness my own strength to press prints without a traditional press, and I was off. For years I have been using my pocket press to create small prints of objects and scenes that I am moved to portray. After being stowed away in flat files, I decided to photograph my prints and share them here. Interest in my press motivated me to start building them for fellow printmakers. I even developed my Magic Platen, which holds your plate or other items still while you press them. I create prints with it, but also use found objects like plastic letters and leaves to create letterpress like embossing.

I have taught Etching without a Press workshops through Skillshare, and at Ohio State University Urban Arts Space for an exhibition my largest hand pressed etching was included in. I worked for a small organization a few summers ago teaching at-risk youth a new printmaking without a press lesson twice a week for 3 months.

I spend most of my spare time painting and operating my local art consulting business here in Los Angeles. In between times I create prints by hand and teach others how to do the same thing. You can learn more about printmaking with my pocket press by reading my blog and visiting the Using the Press page.

All the prints in this shop are created using my pocket press. I designed the press and platen and construct each one by hand in my studio.
