An Artisan Revolution

Despite all the beheadings and other gruesome details, I find the French Revolution quite fascinating. In French society at the time, a social caste system of three "estates" led to a revolt of the least of these estates against the more powerful two. This Third Estate made up the majority of the population and yet felt their voices went unheard. Despite being the laborers, inventors, engineers, artisans, farmers, and majority of consumers; they operated in a lower social class than merchants and nobility who created and worked little to none. I named my brand Third Estate not for political reasons, but for artistic ideals. I imagine a Third Estate of artists and artisans, common people with undiscovered talent or underfunded ideas using outlets such as Etsy to revolt against a mass-produced standard of aesthetic. And it is happening! I draw so much inspiration from this ability of the smallest voice to be heard. My creative expression is an extrapolation of this idea. I take objects and "artifacts" which seem irrelevant and create an aesthetic based on the beauty of their commonality or their re-purpose. I hope someday to expand my brand to include even more of the romanticism I find in the Third Estate in new ways and productions.

I believe a beautiful thing can be magical in the right moment, that color and texture and weight have more significance in everyday objects than most people realize. I believe everyone deserves to be in awe of this messy, lovely world we live in.

Custom order payments will be determined based on the individual work commissioned, but be aware that up front costs for supplies may be required before the work may begin in some cases. In the event of custom items made from a buyer's own item or items, such as old jewelery, I will physically confirm the viability of the object for re-purposing before determining a final price. However, a general quote based on photographs of the item will be provided ahead of time in most cases. In the event an object is not suitable for re-purpose, return shipping will be at no cost to you up to $4.00. Additional return shipping charges may apply if the cost to ship back to you exceeds $4.00. Custom orders must be cancelled before work begins. I will notify you 24 hours in advance of beginning a commission. A previously stated supply fee will most likely be incurred on cancellations of commissions. Other cancellations must be made prior to shipping or no refund will be given. Items ship withing 24-48 hours from payment received.

Small jewelery items are put into size appropriate jewelery boxes as depicted in listing photos and are typically shipped in bubble wrap lined manila mailers. If a hair pin or jewelry item is damaged upon delivery, I will repair it if possible and refund the cost of the item if not. No refunds will be given on shipping costs. If an item needs to be repaired, you will not be charged to have the repaired item shipped back to you. All sales on completed paintings and drawings are final. Please see my Payment Policy for information on refunds and possible incurred fees due to cancellations of custom items.
