Announcement   NOTICE: Dicentra will be away from the shop from July 11-18. Any purchases made during that time will ship after the 18th.

Check our NEW category for new colorways and fibers making their debut at the Black Sheep Gathering on June 23rd in Eugene, Oregon. Hand dyed fibers and yarns for spinning, knitting, felting, and weaving, produced one dyepot at a time. Rich jewel tones and vivid colors are created using professional dyes that are set properly in a long hot bath.

Take a look around here, make yourself at home, enjoy the view. Let us know if we can do anything for you. These colorways are created in a smoke-free, dog friendly home and studio. We strive to keep hair and hay away from the fiber, but sometimes they sneak in as if they have a magnetic attraction to places they shouldn't be.

If you are on the U. S. West Coast- see our hand painted fiber in person at Pearl Fiber Arts and Northwest Wools in Portland. See our yarn at Apples to Oranges in Silverton, Oregon.

The colors are even prettier than in the photo. The color saturation is amazing. I am going to admire this braid for a while before I spin it!! Thanks!

I love the way this shop owner puts colors together. The fiber is soft and I've spun it up into some 2 ply yarn for slipper socks. They will be luxurious!

About

Dicentra Designs was hatched nearly 20 years ago and remains a venture propelled by a single fiber artist with a little help from friends and family. Hollow Tree Studio, a former wood shop behind the house, is home to the alchemy of turning ecru blends of wools and other animal fibers and silk into glorious, shimmering braids of spinnable, feltable fiber. A land use planner by day, Lisa (Dicentra) spends weekends working with fiber, from concocting unique colors into dye stock solutions, to choosing colorways inspired by the visual feast presented by the Oregon countryside, to melding color and fiber in the dyepot, to rinsing and drying dyed fiber, to braiding and packaging finished fiber. Most colorways are done in 4.5 pound batches. Many colors change with the seasons and are not repeated exactly, unless there is a perceived demand for additional runs. Usually new colorways come out in time for shows in February, June, and September. Dicentra-dyed fibers and yarns are available for purchase here on Etsy and at a few fiber shows in Washington and Oregon, as well as in a few shops on the West Coast.

I've been a fiber artist for 50 years, now specializing in dyeing with acid dyes, coaxing color out of plant materials, and felting garments and accessories. I love working with fiber to make beautiful things to warm the body and soul.
