Beautiful dress that I ordered for a work function, my manager who used to be a professional dressmaker commented on the softness of the taffeta and the quality of the finishing. The dress will get a lot more outings!

3 out of 5 stars

Finally lost 2 1/2 stone to be a size 10 but dress when I manage to get it done up does not fit across chest as the pleating on chest is way above the lying of the reast and cannot pull it down over them. Dress is more a. Size 8 . Have appointment at dress maker to hopefully make alterations . Quality and make lovely specialy when I put on the petticoat .

About

Our Story...

Dig For Victory begun when designer Eleanor Callaghan began making dresses for herself to wear while performing in twee-pop band The Bobby McGee's. Selling the clothes through friends and a few local shops, the feedback and demand from customers grew in popularity with customers such as MIA and Bat For Lashes.

Eight years on and the online sales have expanded the brand from a personal labour of love to a thriving independent business, with dresses being custom made in Brighton and shipped all over the world through the new hand made global marketplace website “Etsy.com”.
Finally realising the dream to open a real life shop - the new bricks and mortar boutique in Brighton, England, offers a unique shopping experience as alongside the off-the-peg dresses the customer is able to see the studio where the dresses are made, select from the huge collection of vintage fabrics used to make the dresses and get measured in person for a custom fit.

Payment
Payment is due up front on all of our individual items.

For wholesale orders or orders of more than 4 items we can accept half payment on placing the order and half on completion of the order.

We are also happy to accept deposits on items when a customer would like us to put some of our limited edition fabric aside for them, but we will only start making the order once full payment has been received.
Shipping
All items will be shipped using the Royal Mail 'International tracked' service, which is a fully tracked and insured service.

Approximate shipping times:
US and Canada: 1 week
Australia: 9 days
Europe: 3-5 days
UK: 1-2 days
Refunds and Exchanges
Our standard sized dresses (besides those in our 'ready to ship') are still individually made to order. We also use vintage and reclaimed fabrics which we have a limited supply of each.
These two factors mean that we really encourage our customers to be as sure as possible before ordering the dress as we will be making it specially for you. This means considering the fabric and style combination as well as checking their measurements against our sizing information.
However, if the dress is made in a standard size then it can be returned if it doesn't fit for an exchange or refund (MINUS postage costs), within 28 days of the dress being received.

The made to measure dresses are made to fit your specific measurements and can be returned for adjustments. The fit of the dress will depend on the accuracy of your measurements and therefore it is sometimes the case that a made to measure dress will benefit from a little tweak/adjustment after it has been received. If this is the case, you may find it easiest to have this done by a local dressmaker but you are also very welcome to return the dress back to us for a free adjustment if you prefer.
Additional policies and FAQs
Both our standard size and made to measure dresses are custom made to order.
They will take approximately 2-4 weeks to make and 1-2 days to ship within the UK (or 1-2 weeks for international shipping, depending on location).

However, if you need a dress sooner than this please check our 'Ready to Ship' section where we keep a selection of dresses ready made in stock that can purchased for immediate shipping. Alternatively, we are sometimes able to arrange an express order so please get in touch if you would like to discuss this.

All of our dresses are designed, cut and sewn right here in Brighton, England.

Frequently asked questions

Are the dresses lined?

Yes! The majority of our dresses are lined, the type of material used to line the dress will depend on the fabric of the outer. We consider the appearance, comfort and wearability of the lining when choosing it. The skirts of our dresses are commonly lined with an anti-static synthetic as this prevents it riding up or sticking to tights. You can request to have the dress lined fully in 100% cotton but this will incur an extra cost.
