Fast shipping! Lovely lettering on the envelope. I got two fabulously funny zines that were a great laugh and an entertaining emotional journey. I'd recommend these zines to everyone to read.

Mid Air Bomb creation was so funny. I really enjoy Alli's quirky sense of humour using real life experiences as her inspiration. Well done! :)

About

Brave and colourful journeys infusing the soul with hope

It was one of those typical summer days. Bright blue sky, still air in anticipation of the heat.

Disregardless of the perfect weather, I was restless and wanted to explore something, but I didn’t know what it was I wanted to explore. I grabbed my cane washing basket and took it out into the early summer light. Crouched on the path I started to gently stroke the raw amber cane with my brush and shimmery paint. I felt rapturous as the strokes went on in bright sparkly purple and pink! Why did I have such a euphoric feeling with a brush in my hand? I didn’t know… Something was rising up rapidly from inside me but I didn’t understand it. I’d dabbled with drawing and many handcrafts but those experiences felt somehow different from this. I had radical dreams of painting murals on my lounge room wall… over the conservative burgundy paint my partner had chosen for that wall. I wanted lime greens and deep pinks and giant brush strokes in overarching statements… I felt so contained but was so unsure of how to release myself into the vividly bright world I dreamt about.

Dressed in pale pink and blue I wondered what my soul looked like on the inside because on the outside I was compliant and sweet and a ‘yes’ girl… but inside I was a rebel and orange and screeching as I streaked across the sky in magenta’s and indigo’s…

And so I explored, to the point where last year I found myself with a large second-hand canvas in front of me. Paint splashing on, over the black lines of the previous creator; my own messages surging from within. I was shocked with what I found before me… it pleased me, satisfied some urge within me. I wanted more and so rushed out the next day to find more preloved canvases that I could drench in pinks, oranges, reds… cool blues... in anything that would allow what was burning on the inside to be birthed on the outside. The more I experimented, the more I wanted to share my journey with the world. I wanted to find a way to reach out into people’s homes, people’s inner worlds, to encourage and reassure… and so my Etsy shop ‘Diilhami’ (inspired) was born.

My desire to release my message into the world blossomed out of my own travail as I struggled to be authentic and release myself from my own self-imprisonment, my compliance, of living inside an ever increasingly small box of ideas… and fears.

When I put brush to canvas or pastel to paper, I allow the intuitive whispers of my soul to direct me. I never decide to paint anything beforehand; instead, what flows is a depiction of my own precious journey. The images are formless and then over time they meld into something that has meaning for me. I find this so inspiring, this being real and on fire with who I am, of discovering my amazing and precious dharma for this life journey… and my deepest hope is that you will be inspired and give yourself the same gifts; of love, tenderness, care and creative expression, to nurture and fuel the beautiful fire of who you are.

Namaste brave one!
Be inspired!
Be soul-splashed with colour! <3 <3 <3

Welcome to Diilhami (dill-ha-me) which translates as 'inspired' in Indonesian. I have spent many months in Indonesia and take great inspiration from the people, culture and luscious tropical landscape. I find colour to be highly inspirational... subtle, bold, gentle, splashy... all beautiful and a joy to translate onto my canvases or capture with my camera on my travels in Australia and around the world.

I'm a believer is recycling and most of my paintings are on recycled canvases from my local second-hand store. I want to enhance this world and not add to consumerism as much as possible!

May you be inspired here and find colour and expression to enhance your personal world!
