Lifelong gardener falls for faux succulents and artificial air plants
Succulents and air plants, although attractive in in indoor arrangements and centerpieces, don't live long indoors.
We've all tried them. I've tried them. But as much as we consider ourselves green thumbs, succulents and air plants are particular about drainage, need lots of sunshine and all the things outdoor plants want, too.
It's a good thing that today's artificial plants, faux succulents and fake air plants nearly look like the real thing. Not all succulents do, mind you. But as a lifelong gardener, I take pride in curating that plants that easily pass for the real thing. My stag horn ferns are so life like that even experienced gardeners can't tell their faux.
The echeverias, senecios and sedums I choose are picked for their realistic qualities. If they look like plastic, you won't find them in my shop.
In addition to succulent arrangements and faux centerpieces, I created scarf-hanging kits inspired by the Hermes scarf hanging, for a fraction of the price.
Sometimes I break out the paints and create just the thing for that corner. Other times it's the sewing machine. I decoupaged for a while and you can find some of that in my shop. I even used my own original artwork in many of the decoupaged pieces.
On some days I hit the thrift stores and grab the vintage gems that other shoppers overlook.
