My mom loves the pearl!
delicious jewelry from the cajun heartland
Dirty Rice Designs was born when a good idea for a new design using crawfish claws in jewelry fell on me out of the blue. I was minding my own business on the couch, daydreaming, when I suddenly realized that I had a perfect raw material right at hand. A few months later, I launched Dirty Rice Designs, and my crawfish claw earrings and necklaces were in such high demand that I could barely keep up with orders.
My designs have grown since that first great idea, and now I work with alligator and sting ray leathers as well as gemstones.

If you are unsatisfied with your purchase for any reason, please let me know! I take great pride in my work and want you to be happy. I take the best pictures possible and try to make my descriptions very clear, but in the event that you open your package and realize you made the wrong choice, just get in touch with me. I am happy to resize, exchange, or refund. Please contact me before leaving feedback and allow me the opportunity to make you happy!

If I notice you may be having trouble with payment, I will send you a convo or an email. If I haven't heard from you within a couple of days after that, then I'll have to cancel the transaction - but we can always try again later.
If you accidentally buy something, just let me know, and I can cancel things from here.
I ship everything in a robin's egg blue paper-covered, small cotton-lined box tied up with a gold satin ribbon. If you would like something gift wrapped further than that, just let me know and I will be happy to accommodate you. I'm also happy to include a little note if your purchase is a gift and is being sent directly to the recipient.
I choose not to insure my packages because I believe that excellent packaging is the best insurance. In the unlikely event of a lost or damaged item, I will replace the item if possible, or you will receive a full refund.
*If you are an international buyer, please note that I use First Class Mail International. The USPS folks have assured me that for most locations, this means 6-10 days, but it varies. If you would like to upgrade your international shipping to Priority Mail (which offers more of a guaranteed window of 6-10 days), we can figure out what the rate will be and I will ship it to you at cost plus $1.50. Just convo me before purchase so I can adjust the listing, and we can go from there.
International buyers need to be aware of any customs or other charges that they may be required to pay. I can not pay customs charges or include fees in my shipping costs.
IMPORTANT: Many countries assess duties and taxes on imported packages. Sometimes these fees can be quite high. If you are uncertain of the amount that you might be assessed, please check it out before making a purchase if you think this could be a problem. This site will give you the approximate costs:
In the event that your US package exceeds 13 ounces, the shipping cost may need to be adjusted to cost + $1.50. Usually my packages are a few ounces at most, so this is unlikely. Please feel free to buy enough for this to be a problem.
In the event that your international package exceeds 6 ounces, I will need to adjust the quoted rate to cost +$1.50 as well. Again, this is twice the weight of a typical package with perhaps even several pieces.

Caring for your Dirty Rice jewelry:
A gentle wipe with a soft, damp cloth or jewelry cloth should keep your jewelry sparkly. (I like Sunshine Cloths.) Artisan, handcrafted jewelry is not the same as commercial items and should be handled and stored gently. You can prolong the life of your jewelry by storing it separately from other jewelry when not in use. Normal wear and tear is to be expected, but should you feel that your jewelry is not wearing as well as it should please contact me.
Special care should be taken with leather products. These are sealed to protect against moisture but should not be worn while swimming or showering, and certainly never submerged in any sort of cleaner!
