How we got this party started
The short version is that I had way too much yarn to deal with on my own, and since I was in danger of being smothered under my own stash, I opened a shop to sell some of it off before that could happen!
The long version is...well, not much different. I've been knitting since 2001 and spinning since 2004. At one point, my yarn & fiber stash grew from a Rubbermaid bin to 1/3 of a storage unit. Clearly, I was outpacing my knitting & spinning with my buying. My husband suggested I start making things to sell, and so I did. When Etsy was still in Beta, I nabbed a spot and began to sell handknitted accessories. Handspun yarn and notecards featuring my photography (mostly of yarn) came in 2008, and then I added stitch markers and earrings in 2010. Today, my little Etsy shop reflects my many interests.
This shop supplies me with some extra income, so every sale is appreciated and loved. Whenever you order from Divine Bird, you know you're supporting a one-woman business. I have just these hands and the skills in my head.
Owner, Maker, Designer, Goddess
Boy, do I love yarn. From the fiber source to the spinning to the creation of something lovely, I am a total yarn geek. I love teaching people about it, too, which is why I spend so much time at events with one of my wheels and several spindles.
