great eye + strong back = amazing collection of stuff

When I was a young child, I announced to my Mother, I wanted to grow up to live in New York City, be a junk dealer and go go dancer.
One of my earliest memories is driving the old Dodge pickup to the town dump with my Grandfather, a woodworker and artist, we often returned home with more than we brought.
I have vivid memories of his workshop, cigar boxes with red trimmed paper labels listing the contents, sawdust, the hand crank sharpening wheel and canning jars with left over varnish. It was magical and I wanted one just like it.
Around this time I was given use of the abandoned chicken coop on our rural property. I proceeded to decorate using the treasures my Grandfather and I hauled home from the dump. My Grandmother kicked in a few doilies, chipped dishes and some cigar boxes of my own. Guess that was the beginning of my wabi sabi, cottage, and farm house decorating style
At 23 I moved to New York City and pursued my go go dancing career, I renamed myself Diz, as in Diz 's 5 and dime. The go go dancing didn't really pan out , though I did love the vintage outfits I put together and tore off on stage.
I discovered the possibilities of New York City trash picking. That led to a regular spot at the 26th Street Flea Market. I brought my kids along and we became infamous as that family of redheads with all the crazy stuff.
My lifelong desire to reuse, recycle, and rethink items has finally reached the mainstream.
I've moved from NYC to 5 acres in New Mexico and hence my storage and acquiring possibilities blossomed.
My son and I bought a house that had suffered a fire. We've spent the last 4 years rebuilding and discovering hidden talents in order to make the wreck a heartfelt home.
Sitting in a room that I scrounged the materials for, designed, and built myself is an amazing experience. It simply feels great.
I'm still attracted to the broken, worn, tattered and aged.
My plans are to stay home, grow my own food, plant a forest of trees and wear lovely clothing.
By selling on Etsy, that allows me to make my future dreams come true.
Diz Has Neat Stuff also keeps 5 tons of merchandise a year out of the landfill!

Thank you for your interest in my shop. I've been a hoarder of cool stuff for years and now I'm looking to hook up with obsessive shoppers. Most of my finds are imperfect, I'll try my best to point out the problems but rest assured, unlues I say otherwise, the piece is full of wabi sabi energy.

I prefer Etsy direct check out. it's quick and easy.
I have done layaway in the past and would ask not to do it again.
New Mexico buyers have to pay sales tax.

I provide insurance on items over $100, if you would like insurance provided on a smaller cost item please contact me ahead of time.
All Books now have FREE SHIPPING within the USA !!! (using media mail, if you need them in a hurry, I'll have to charge you the difference )
99% of the time your package will arrive without issues and on time, that 1% of orders could be late, held up, lost, or damaged. If your package is lost, please be aware that you, as the receiver, will have to fill out a lost package form. if you parcel is held up at a distant post office, I'm sorry to say there's really nothing I can do about that. If you have a problem with this and tend to freak if everything doesn't go your way, please do NOT order from me. I dislike being blamed for something I have no control over but you feel the need to vent.
Yes, some of my shipping rates may seem high. I calculate using a distant zip code ,so if you live closer, it maybe much cheaper. Please be aware I always refund the difference rounded up to the nearest dollar. I can go in a edit a listing prior to sale if a refund makes you uncomfortable. the edit may take me a day or two.
International buyers can always convo me regarding shipping rates to their country, the postal service has raised their rates so I'm warning you that often they will be ridiculously high.
"International Buyers – Please Note: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying. I do not lie on customs forms. Don't ask. It is a $10,000 fine per infraction, and or 5 years and jail."
I'd be happy to include insurance ,signature conformation or faster service, I'll just invoice you the difference.
Refunds and Exchanges
As all of the vintage items are one of a kind, I can no longer except any returns and I will no longer refund the purchase price or shipping.
If you've purchased using the Etsy phone app, there maybe information you failed to read, this is pretty common but it's important that you are aware of the "item details". this is where I take a great deal of time to record measurements, condition, details and return policies. PLEASE READ IT! I will only cancel the sale before I ship the item, after that, there's no money back ,no returns. shop carefully.
Please check measurements carefully on all clothing purchases, I will not except a return because the item does not fit you. If you need more measurements, Please ask before purchasing.
If an item of clothing or textile is returned smelling of Fabreze or perfume, I will deduct the price of dry cleaning from the return price. I am highly sensitive to chemical smells and masks and ask that you do not use them on any item that you plan on returning to me. thank you for understanding !
Additional policies and FAQs
I'm always happy to entertain offers and discounts. If we do agree on a price, please be aware that offer only stands for 24 hours. If you are not prepared to purchase at that time, Please refrain from making an offer
