The journey of an entrepreneur-turned-crafty

My shop name, dizzlePOP, came from my daughter's gaming adventures. Yup, I stole from my own kid.

I was one of those who would say, "Oh, I'm not creative." Why do we say that?! I started creating real things (like, to sell), when my friend made me a beautiful sterling and Swarovski bracelet to sell on a childhood cancer awareness website I owned (www.goldribbons.com), and we began beading together and OH MY... my creativity was permanently unleashed! While I'm no longer selling jewelry, I could open a bead shop with my 32 fishing tackle boxes full of bead varieties (and those are just what I can see from where I'm sitting).

I digress! I was in a few eBay groups where I'd make the accessories for kids' clothes and being around those ladies, I naturally became curious about fabric. Yes, another addiction. At least they're all legal.

I have an attraction to making small things. Maybe it's the quick turnaround that's appealing, as it fits in with my ADD quite well. In my first fabric foray, I made button-covered pony-o's and hair clips.

One day I saw a story in the newspaper about creating reusable things to replace those things we usually throw away. Being a coffee addict, I was throwing away a LOT of those cardboard coffee sleeves, so that was my interest. I was not a sewer, so I hired a friend to teach me how to sew coffee cozies. Three lessons and I was on my way, tweaking what we'd created until I had the perfect pattern and could pop out cozies to my heart's content.

I've since added more small fabric accessories to my shop. I love to sit at my desk and play!
