Custom made children's clothes, and whatever else strikes my fancy

It was almost 11 years ago that I decided that it might be fun to learn to sew. I had big dreams about all the curtains, pillows, quilts and clothes for myself and my daughter I was going to whip up. I asked for and received my first Singer as a birthday present that year and promptly set about reading books and buying "for dummies" patterns to teach myself to sew. Somehow it never occurred to me to look for a class or tutor to get me going in the basics. My first couple of projects were pretty rough, but I persevered and slowly but surely my skills improved.
Fast forward 8 years and I discovered Etsy. What an amazing place, full of talented people creating beautiful things! I still didn't have the confidence that my sewing was up to snuff though, so I kept sewing, reading and shopping on Etsy.
Finally in 2011 I discovered Oliver & S patterns and their boutique sewer program. I bought a pattern and sewed up a dress for my adorable niece. When it was finished I took a good critical view of it and knew I was ready.
What you will find in my shop are children's clothes that are made with quality fabrics and trims and sewn with a great deal of love, care and attention to detail. Occasionally I also throw in an apron, tote bag or purse just to keep things interesting. I take pride in my sewing and constantly strive to improve my skills and challenge myself. I would never list something for sale in my shop that I wouldn't proudly wear or give as a gift to someone I loved.

I love sewing, crafting, embroidery, baking and I'm a former librarian. I live in Phoenix Arizona with my wonderful husband and our amazing daughter. My work is inspired by vintage children's clothing and Mexican folk art, odd combination I know!

Welcome to my little corner of the Etsy world. I’m a self-taught sewist who has been at it for about 10 years. Now that my daughter is older I’m able to do it more, in fact I couldn’t squeeze one more apron in the drawer if I tried. I want everyone who shops here to be pleased with the product and the service they receive. I would never sell anything that I wouldn’t want to buy myself. That being said I also feel that part of the beauty of a handmade object is that it is NOT perfect. I hope you enjoy what you see!

Care instructions: Materials are pre-washed to reduce shrinkage. Unless otherwise noted, machine-wash warm, tumble dry low, warm iron if needed.
I do not own a serger, so seams are either finished by sewing the seam allowances, triming with pinking shears or some other means. In my experience kids outgrow the clothes I make long before they wear out!
