Welcome to Doc's Wooden Toys! Take a look through our new offerings of jewelry made from upcycled scraps of other projects - and we can make custom bowls, plates, jewlery and more, send us a message with your request!
After decades of hobbyist woodworking, I decided to open an Etsy shop and share the beauty of my hand-crafted bowls (and more!). With a solar-powered wood shop, I strive for sustainability by upcycling recovered wood from dead and decaying trees around my homestead as the primary source of wood for my projects, in addition to planting numerous trees to help sustainably manage the land.
Please enjoy exploring my shop, and I hope you'll find something you like enough to buy as a gift or for yourself to enjoy forever in your own home!

5 out of 5 starsI love what you make from your invasive Amur Honeysuckle bushes!! What a great way to help clear out unwanted bushes and replace them with beautiful works of wood art. This bowl and lid are beautiful. This particular piece of wood is heavily figured which makes for an amazing piece. Thank you so much!

5 out of 5 starsThis is a little but mighty bowl! The spalt pattern is amazingly clear in this walnut bowl. Very well turned. Open design really lets you see the wood more clearly. Thank you for this beauty!

5 out of 5 starsThis piece far exceeded my expectation. It is stunning, and a larger item than I expected. Especially for the price. It's so beautiful. It shipped very quickly. When I asked about the shipping prior to ordering, the shop owner got back with me immediately. I highly recommend this artisan.

5 out of 5 starsSuch a sweet small lidded bow of Amur Honeysuckle. This wood is surely beautiful even if it is an invasive bush. Lovely work on getting in the bark on the lid. It's hard to believe this is honeysuckle wood. Thank you for taking the time to work with this wood and create these pieces. Awesome job - THANK YOU!!

5 out of 5 starsWow wow wow!! THIS is a real beauty of a bowl. 1 - it's made of a unusual wood (Amur Honeysuckle), 2 - it's got figure galore and 3 - although the wood is not rare (I have some on my property in Ohio) I've never seen anyone else who has turned it. It had to be extremely hard to turn and I'm sure you had to be careful that the wood didn't come apart while turning on the lathe. Incredible work. I will treasure this always. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I really like the honeysuckle too, I'm glad I decided to try this unusual wood for turning. Finding a solid piece this big wasn't easy the way honeysuckle branches growth, but it really made a beautiful piece worth the effort. Thanks for your enthusiastic review!

5 out of 5 starsI love how the light colored honeysuckle wood contrasts with the darker Walnut lid. The bark inclusions really add to the beauty of the piece. Very well turned with a great finish. Thank you for working with what had to be difficult wood to turn this wonderful bowl.

Thanks, Sheri! Glad you like these pieces, I like the challenge of finding and working with this unusual wood. Stay tuned for more honeysuckle pieces coming soon, hopefully!
