These are the cutest little stockings, and perfect for a Christmas treat for Chip and Blue Thang. Thank you, Pamela for being a great seller and flexible with combining shipping.

The hat is very nice, if a bit pricey, but since it's a gift for someone who loves her greyhounds I splurged. It seemed to take a little longer to get here than some of my other Etsy purchases, but that may just have been because of the Christmas season. I did order early though, and am glad I did.

I love the greyhound Christmas stockings. I ordered one in black and one in 'brindle'. They are beautifully made and look just like my greyhounds. The package shipped overseas to me and arrived safely. The stockings were even wrapped in paw print tissue paper. Delighted!

I've been knitting for hounds and their humans for several years now... it's a lot more fun to me than making sweaters and baby blankets and the usual kinds of things that people seem to like to knit.. For most of my adult life, I'v been heavily involved with dog rescue groups , particularly with miniature pinschers and more recently with retired racing greyhounds, galgos and other sighthounds. Now that I'm (almost) retired and my life situation has changed, I can no longer work on the front lines of rescue, or even do transport or help with fostering. I can, however, knit.. .and the proceeds from my knitting help support dog rescue groups both in the US and abroad. (Oh.. if you belong to a registered animal charity/rescue group and would like some knitted items donated for your fundraising efforts... please send me a message. I am more than happy to donate as many items as I can to help you raise money.)
I learned how to knit when I was about four years old... at that time, in England, almost every little girl learned how and I remember seeing almost every female relative I knew with knitting needles in their hands at one time or another. In the mid-eighties I became a production knitter and learned how to use the technology of the day to produce vast amounts of knitted fabric relatively quickly. I still have the first knitting machine I ever bought... back in 1982. It even still works and I used it to make the Hound-Headed Christmas stockings listed in my shop. Since then I've acquired quite a few other knitting machines; they all do something a bit different and they are all old and cantankerous but I can usually get them up and running with a bit of persuasion. All of the knitted items in my shop are made on one of these vintage Brother knitting machines, which means I can work out designs and patterns in hours instead of the weeks it would take to hand knit all the samples. These days, I hand knit for pleasure and machine knit for production... I never met a color I didn't like so once I work out a new design I make it in every color I can get my hands on.
Although I live in Alabama, I love making warm toasty hats and soft luxurious scarves. Yes, I know it only gets cold enough here to wear them maybe two days a year... and I just stay inside on those two days... but I just pretend I live in Alaska and knit things to keep you warm when it's cold outside. I also like making things a little bit different.... like the hound-headed Christmas stockings... and I have lots of ideas coming up just as soon as I find time to work them out properly.
Although most of my designs are greyhound/whippet/Italian greyhound/galgo related, if you want something made with a different dog breed design, just let me know. It may take me a minute but I can probably work out something you'll just love.
Hi, I'm Pamela... born and raised in England but I've been living in the Southern US for over fifty years now. I've been hand knitting for over 50 years and machine knitting for over 30 so I think I've got just about got the hang of it.
Percy is a miniature pinscher rescued off the streets on Christmas Eve 2014. He is the Quality Control Inspector here at Doghouse Knits....sometimes he unravels my knitting and inspects the stitches just to make sure I've done it right.
Bonnie is a retired racing greyhound from the track in Birmingham, Alabama. She monitors my greyhound designs closely for accuracy.
Clyde is a bloodhound/Great Pyrenees mix born out of wedlock and under the house down the road. He is the Chairman of the Bored and has the important job of holding down the floor when I'm running one of my machines.
