My friend says ' I wish I could wear this kimono'

こんにちは (^^)/ Back in 80's, I worked in ma-ba (the joint venture company of Mattel Toys and BANDAI) for two years, developing fashion dolls and their furniture. Though I left the company at my marriage, I have always been a doll collector and love to make my doll dioramas.
Nowadays, we've seen many wonderful OOAK fashion doll clothes designers around the world. However, it's pity only a small amount of people can enjoy dolls' fine kimono fashion. So I decided to provide some authentic but not 'over the top' kimono outfits for fashion doll lovers.
As an ex-toy developer, I know how difficult it is to put the kimonos on the little ladies.
So I made easy-dressing kimonos. Plus, one copy of my original kimono dressing
instructions will come with my products so that you can dress your dolls with confidence. The instructions contains some tips about kimono rules which I have learned in Japan ( I sometimes wear kimono by myself ).
Most of the products are hand-sown carefully. And they are all different. So don't miss the chance to get your favourite kimono :) I select only suitable fabrics for the doll kimono with the appropriate design and qualities which make it look Japan's kimono. I support the traditional fabric makers in Kyoto, who are becoming rare.
If you have any question about the kimono, please contact me. Ow, I speak Japanese and English, BTW.

Frequently asked questions

Order made

If you see the mark of ' Request a custom order ' on the item page, there is still more fabric left for another custom order doll kimono. Don't forget to check the sold items page as well.

Sizing details

My shop specialises in 1/6 size Fashion Doll's kimono. 'Fashion Dolls' here means 11 1/2"- 12"( 29-30cm) tall dolls like Silkstone Barbie dolls, some other Barbie dolls and Dynamite Girls doll.
If you are not sure my kimonos fit your doll, please ask me. I can't guarantee it but I will try my best to research your doll on the net.

International shipping

I use Auspost standard delivery with tracking service. The shipping fee depends on the destination country. It would be the same fee for multiple purchase. I can only put up to three kimono sets and a couple of kimono accessories into one small parcel box. For small amount of items, I use padded bags.
To avoid the trouble, I only sell the items to English speaking countries. If you speak English/Japanese and you are getting used to do international shopping, please contact me for the availability.

Express delivery service option

The express delivery service option is available. If you wish this, please contact me.

Care instructions

I usually select the most washable fabric as much as possible except I fall in love with some silk or rayon fabric.
Wash cotton/polycotton/poly Chirimen crepe kimono by hands gently. However, the fabric colour can loose its quality due to frequent washing along with drying under direct sunlight. As Obi belt is made with some delicate fabrics, I don't recommend that you wash it.
All items will be ironed before shipping, but expect to find some wrinkles around the waist due to the nature of kimono's shape.
To avoid colour stains to the doll body, I don't use dark colour fabric (ex. black, red) for the lining.

shipping within Australia

I use AUSPOST flat rate prepaid satchel with tracking so that I can combine the products up to three kimonos and Obi belts. To add extra cover for loss/damage, additional AU$1.50 would apply.

About the price

I am still learning the material cost day by day. In order to make my doll kimono, it takes lots of energy, time, and craft skills other than money. So I'd like to leave some reward for myself to keep my motivation. Please note that the item price contains that, too. However, I understand you have to pay mortgage, food, and kids' education, etc. So I will occasionally make a sale time. But I will exclude some particular kimonos from the discount sale. For the customer who bought a non-discountable item (s), I issue $5 discount coupon which you can use for the next shopping. Only one coupon would be issued at a shopping.

About the class of Kimono

Like any other outfit, a Kimono has it's own class. Here are some examples below.
・Yukata浴衣... We wear it as a bath robe or a very casual kimono on summer festivals, but they are not accepted in formal occasions.

・Kosode小袖 or Komon小紋 ... a casual kimono for a town walk, shopping, tea parties or for going to see Kabuki.

・Furisode振袖 ... Formal kimonos for young, single ladies. You can wear it for formal parties and friends' wedding. Some gorgeous Obi Knott are used only for Furisode kimonos. Only Furisode kimono has long sleeves.

・Homongi訪問着, Tsukesage付下げ ...Formal kimonos for married/single ladies. It's for formal parties as well as friends' weddings.

And just for your reference, 'Oiran花魁' means courtesans in Edo era of Japan.
