I am a Danish textile designer living in Sicily since 2010. I have been working with knitting and tailoring since many years but in 1990 it became my profession, first in Denmark and then in 2003 in Scotland. Now my workshop and home is located in the country side near Pollina in the Palermo province. I am creating beautiful knitwear and tailored items in a casual look - all made by hand in the handknitting studio and in the tailoring workshop. Knitting patterns for the hand knitted jumpers are also available.
All materials used in the handknitting studio as well as in the tailoring workshop (yarn, fabric and accessories) are purchased in Sicily (Italy) and Scotland - with the following issues in mind:
1. To keep business in Europe. Included the crafting of the designs that only takes place in my workshop in Sicily.
2. To get the best fabric possible - cotton, linen and silk here and the woollen fabric in Scotland.
For these reasons the pricing of the handycrafts from my workshops, the handknitting one as well as the tailoring one, are quite high compared to the generally pricing of clothing - also because the craft/tailoring takes place here in Sicily in Europe.
