Announcement    Wood is Good!

I conceive and create 100% of everything I sell...from scratch. The foundation on which most everything I create is 100% recycled wood. I incorporate other re-purposed materials as well, ie. shed deer antler, scrap-yard metal and even the "black sand" from gold panning! I use various crushed stone inlay into a lot of my work too. BTW...my Instagram page has my most recent creations: https://www.instagram.com/donburda/

re: shipping outside the US: purchaser is responsible for their respective country's delivery service's potential additional customs fees. It is impossible for me to know if this applies to your particular country, so please be aware before placing order.

About

Wood is Good!

This story began in August, 2013, when I created my first inlay ring, on a "lathe" consisting of an old Craftsman hand drill "jury-rigged" in a vise.

I create wood jewelry, lathe-turned bowls, vases, etc. (some with crushed stone inlay), hardwood sculptures, hand carved free form vessels and housewares (mobiles, clocks, etc), from scratch. I conceive and create 100% of everything I sell, even the beads (exception being glass seed beads or spacer beads made from various materials), meaning that everything I make is unique! Nothing I sell existed before I created it. The majority of my wood pieces are made from local Arizona Eucalyptus, Mesquite, Pine, Ironwood and Cat's Claw, but I'll literally use any wood I find lying around my yard or friend's yards from around the country or my Dad's apple orchard in IL. When I can get my hands on local craftsmen's scrap bins or donations from generous visitors at my shows, I will use exotic hardwoods, such as Rosewood, Padauk, Purpleheart, Osage Orange, Ebony, Wenge, Cocobola, Zebrawood and others. All wood I use is so far, recycled in one way or another.

My influences are endless. This keeps me motivated to evolve my craft. I can never run out of new ideas!

I have been a graphic artist in one form or another my entire adult life. That path has evolved into designing and creating wood jewelry, some with stone inlay and now incorporating metals, lathe turned & free form hand-carved bowls, vases, pots, sculptures, home decor pieces and more. Unlike previous pursuits, this one has bitten me hard and I have become passionate about growing into this new form of expression! My goal is to share this passion with others through my work.
