My love of mid century modern decor began early. As a child in the 60s I would spend hours happily flipping through the pages of our family's Sears-Robuck and Montgomery Ward catalogs, looking at photos of modern furniture and accessories. The designs of that era were innovative, colorful and fun, and got me all excited about the future that lay ahead. At the age of 50, I discovered a love of painting and chose mid century modern furniture and accessories as my subject matter. They make me happy. I hope my work makes you happy, too!
I try to add new designs each week so check back often.

About

From felt banners to acrylic paintings!

I began painting when I turned fifty. It all started in a roundabout way. I began creating felt banners for my church and wanted an easier way to work on the designs, so I started using a graphic design program on my computer. I began playing around on the computer to create pictures of rooms with Mid-Century Modern decor. Around the same time I began teaching art to my grandchildren, and I purchased a bunch of paint for us to use. As I was playing around on the computer, creating another room design, I thought, "I wonder if I could do this with paint?" I had to simplify the design, so I chose three elements from the room: a chair, a lamp, and a piece of artwork. This is how my very first painting came to be. I called it my "chair" painting. I stuck a cat in the chair because I like cats. I was excited! I loved this new hobby and could not wait to paint another piece. Soon I had nowhere to store these completed paintings. My husband suggested selling them and my daughter told me about Etsy. Thus came about the creation of my Etsy Shop in February 2012.

I enjoy being a wife, mother and grandma. I home school my sweet grandson. I still create felt banners for my church. I am learning how to play the violin, and I'm teaching myself to juggle (because who doesn't want to know how to juggle??). It's never too late to learn something new! :-)
