The Doodle Bug Story

Hi there!
I've been in to crafting for a long time. I learned how to knit from my grandmother when I was four and absolutely fell in love with it. I stopped knitting for a while because I felt it took too long to make the things I wanted to make and switched over the crochet and really just did that as my creative outlet for a long time. It wasn't until recently that I started to grow as a fiber artist. My mother-in-law Lisa gave me her Ashford Joy spinning wheel to try back in March of 2020 to see if I would like it. . . . Well I didn't just like it, I became obsessed. I started buying all kinds of fiber from hand dyers on Etsy and have now spun over 50 skeins of yarn ranging between 400 yards to 1500 yards per skein. From there I got into weaving and dying and making more intricate things with my knitting. Lisa (the mom-in-law) had suggested that I start selling my hand spun and hand dyed yarn. I didn't think what I was making was anything anyone would want to buy but she insisted. I'm so glad she did. She owns an Alpaca farm and promised I could use as much amazingly soft alpaca fleece as I want to which I could not say no. We worked together to come up with the shop name and really wanted to include my kids to make it really special and unique so naturally Doodle Bug came to mind which is what we all call my oldest son since he was born. I now use it interchangeably for both my boys but My oldest will always be the OG Doodle Bug ;) And the rest pretty much fell into place. I am still just starting out and plan to do so much more for my business to help it grow and it is very nice to share the back story on how it came to be.
Thank for reading,
Brie Cheese ;P
