I had been looking for this pattern for a long time. She made it so easy and I am super happy!
Brilliant, happy, fun in fabric form!
Vibrant, candy colored, spring joy!
Love of the 50s and diners turns into apron biz!
Hi thanks for stopping in. My Etsy apron shop is sort of a hobby on steroids. I love creating new things. I have a day job in the electrical engineering industry, in a cubicle, with a big computer, and lots of engineers around me. So, when I’m not at work I spend a little time every day creating things like aprons and skirts, otherwise I would die of geek overload.
I decided to start my little apron shop a few years ago after hearing about Etsy. I thought it might be fun. Plus, I was drunk so that explains that decision.
I have always loved retro 50's diners, so I thought I would make aprons that kind of look like waitress uniforms, or counter girls. If you're old enough, you remember the sandwich counter at the drug store, the old ice cream shops and cool donut shops. I am old enough to remember that stuff, but I'm not old! I'm not.
I have the world's best customers ever, and many of my customers have more than one of my aprons. About a half dozen of my customers own over 50 aprons, and a couple of them have over 70. Awesome, right?
Anyhow, thank you all for stopping in and I appreciate all of you I really do.
Owner, Maker, Designer, Curator, Awesome Apron Madame
Hi I'm Dottie~ I am the one who makes all these damn aprons! I thought when I started this shop I would just make a few aprons for fun, but nope, I make a lot of aprons, like a LOT of them. Love you guys. I do.
Thank you for stopping in, I really appreciate it!
Have a look around, ♥ me if you like me and come back again, I am always adding cute new stuff to the inventory.

Additional policies and FAQs
Q; Can I order a custom design?
A; Sometimes yes, sometimes no; it depends on so many different things. If you see a listing in my shop called custom order, then that means I am taking orders. If not, then no.
Q; Do you make children’s/men’s/hairdresser’s aprons?
A; YES! I do now! I am now making little girl's aprons, and the rest will follow soon!
Q; Do you make plus size?
A; YES! If you see the listing for custom orders in my shop; then go ahead and order any size you like using that listing. Don’t forget to tell me your waist size in the notes to seller at checkout.
Q; Do you ever bring back previous designs?
A; Yes I do! I love some of my previous designs so much; I make them over and over. I won’t bring back the ones that took too long to make or that I hated while making or that photographed badly, etc. It just makes me cranky, and I’m trying not to be cranky. If you want me to make something let me know and I'll see if I can find the fabric and make it for you.
Q; Can I model for Dots Diner?
A; I love it that I meet some really awesome and cute models! I have been really lucky to have some really exceptional pinup and other gals send me some photos that I can use here.
I do use models once in a while just to add some life to the shop. (Actually aprons sell better without models- I don't know why this is, it just is). If you want me to remember you, post something on my wall on Facebook so I can find you if I need a model. I hate to say no to lovely young models, because I know it makes you feel like you aren't cute enough, and believe me you are cute enough! You are adorable, you are sexy, you are all that. I just only need models once in a while. I hope you understand.
Q; Can you tell me what pattern you use/where you get your fabric/how to make aprons like yours for myself?
A; Yes; Check out my Blog- I have a ton of helpful articles on my blog, and you can get my pattern and tutorial right here in my shop: (please note that although I am willing to help you to learn how to make retro aprons like mine, that does not mean that I am open to blatant copying of my entire shop and designs (if you are also selling on Etsy). Please exercise polite restraint when using my shop for inspiration, and try to come up with your own unique styles and combinations. I understand that you might REALLY like some of my ideas, but when you outright copy my designs, at a lower price, you are competing with me, not flattering me. That hurts me as a designer, and makes my heart sink.
Q; Can I copy your apron designs to sell in my Etsy shop?
A; I sell my pattern for my retro apron, so yes you can copy my design. I prefer you don’t copy my actual styles, such as; using the same combination of fabrics and trims, arranged in the same way, using the same titles and tags. If you do, I can’t stop you, but I will assume that it’s ok to copy you as well.
Q; Can I use your shop name, Dots Diner, in my own titles and tags in my own shop so that when your customers are searching for you, my shop comes up in the search?
A; I prefer you don’t use my shop name; Dots Diner, Dotties Diner, DotsDiner, Polka Dots Diner (yes people do this, I don't approve).
Q; Do you have any other apron designs that I don't see here?
A: YES! Check out my new website, where I have tons more styles at www.dottiesdineraprons.com
