Q: Where is my order?

SHOP HIATUS: I will be upgrading my computer systems and doing physical inventory from January 14-27th. During this time, the shop will remain open for orders. Items will be made in the order they are received, and shipping will begin January 28th. Please note also that while I will be answering convos, please allow 24-36 hours for a response as internet connection will be sporadic. Thank you so much for your business, I look forward to creating more for you in this new year!

If you order has shipped, you received an email from Payapl the day the postage was printed (not always the same day as the shipping day). That email contains the delivery confirmation number, which can be used to provide some tracking within the website. Once the order has shipped, any further questions regarding package location should be directed to your local post office as I no longer have any control or knowledge beyond the tracking as to item location.

Q: Why didn't I get any convo when I ordered to confirm?
A: When you placed your order, you should have received an email from Etsy with all the notes from me about the order. I don't typically send anything else unless there is an issue, as I know these days most people have very full inboxes (I know I do!) and I try to reduce clutter whenever possible.

Q: Where can I see other fabric choices?
A: Right now I don't have them online. The best thing to do is send me a convo requesting a color, theme, print, etc. and I will dig through my stash to see what I can find for you. Chances are, I have something great for you!

Q: Can you make a custom piece?
A: Absolutely, although custom designs of items will take longer to make, so if that is not an issue, I am happy to work to make you a piece you will love.

Q: Can you make a piece from my fabric?
A: Yes, I have done it many times, my favorite request being a set of 5 clutches from a mother's favorite dress for a set of sisters. As long as it is cotton without stretch, it should work, just convo and we will chat!

I accept credit card payments via Paypal, Paypal account transfers, and direct checkout including Etsy gift cards. Please read through creation and shipping timeframes for an understanding of when you will receive your order, convo first with questions as refunds cannot be provided once work has begun on your order for failure to review ship times.

The USPS is raising their prices on all Priority Mail around the world and the US. I am deeply sorry shipping has become such an expense, please note that I only charge the published rate, and by using flat rate envelopes, I can ship many items for the one rate, so perhaps order with friends and combine the costs to save!

...Rush service is available for a small surcharge, and upgrades to Fed Ex or overnight shipping are available as well. I am always willing to work with you whenever possible to meet your needs. Please convo BEFORE ordering if time is of the essence, and I will do my best to accommodate requests.

All items are now shipping via priority Mail only, worldwide. While I completely understand this makes the purchase of small pouches more expensive, I have had too many "lost" packages that cannot be tracked due to first class postage, and international orders have been taking an unacceptable amount of time for delivery. I hope that the faster delivery time and increased ability to track down orders can help make the postage worthwhile. Also, many items can fit in the flat rate envelopes, so you can ship multiple items for the same cost.

...Once created, shipping times are generally as follows (all times are approximate, I cannot predict postal delays or customs office hold ups). Please note this is IN ADDITION to the creation time days noted above:

Orders will ship via Priority Mail, which generally is 2-4 business days in the US, although we cannot be responsible for shipping delays within the postal service. International is Global Priority Mail flat rate envelope- please visit for shipping times to your specific country. International may take 1-3 weeks.

****Attention international customers: Downstairs Designs is not responsible for your own country’s tariffs, taxes, import fees, customs fees, etc. Any duties and taxes incurred are the responsibility of the recipient and are payable upon receipt of the goods. The cost of shipping is SHIPPING ONLY. Also, please do not ask me to lie on the custom forms for you in an effort to avoid these fees, I will not commit fraud.*****

If you have questions, please convo. I am happy to upgrade to overnight shipping or change to UPS or Fed Ex, please convo for pricing if you need this service, but note your item will still not ship any earlier, it will just ship faster once in the mail system.
Refunds and Exchanges
I want every customer to be delighted with my items. I will not package and ship any item that is not made to the specifications of the listing, and made to my rather high standards. That said, if you do find an error with your order, I will do my best to rectify it immediately to your satisfaction. I generally am unable to refund or exchange items when they are delivered as specified. I also cannot be responsible for shipping time frames, especially those requiring customs involvement. If time is crucial, I suggest you contact me prior to ordering for exact times and alternate shipping methods.
Additional policies and FAQs
I do consider wholesale orders to US-based brick and mortar stores. Please send me your business information and contact details, as well as product line interests with prints and quantities. If you do not send this information in your convo, I will assume that it is not a serious inquiry and may not respond.

I do not work in consignment, nor am I doing trades. Also, I respect the good causes so many of you support, and I support many of the same ones privately myself. However, I will generally not respond to requests for free items for giveaways, charities, auctions, etc. With so much fraud and scam artists out there, I chose to handle donations and such locally and privately. Please know that I may not answer convos concerning these requests as I get dozens every month and feel this is the best place to respond.

Also, please note I will not respond to requests for free items for bloggers to "review". I view these as nothing more than folks trying for free stuff, and not having any respect for makers here on Etsy. All convos asking for free products are sent directly to abuse [!at] for violations/spam.

If you have already purchased something of mine and like it so much you would like to review it, then by all means, convo and let's talk! But asking for something for nothing (and always non-returnable, hmmm) is insulting to everyone here on Etsy and I will not acknowledge your request.
