Holiday Sale runs through Cyber Monday! 10% off everything in the shop!
Thank you for looking! Please feel free to ask questions or request additional info or photos. I prefer to have happy buyers, so don't be afraid to make inquiries before purchasing.
My boards are one of a kind and handmade. Most modern cutting boards are made with glued and laminated wood--I prefer a more natural look but I also prefer my food surfaces to be free of chemicals and glue. Down To Earth Woodworks boards began as a solid single piece of wood, and uses food grade mineral oil, coconut oil, and a little beeswax as finish.
Measurements for boards are taken at the widest point. If you have questions regarding sizing, please feel free to ask.
Down To Earth Woodworks proudly renders artistic products from raw materials salvaged locally-often from our 100 acre wooded farm/ land trust in the foothills of the North Cascades. Great care is taken to find and identify materials which might otherwise be considered unusable, be it a recycled old growth timber or a section of fallen log in the forest. As stewards of our forest, we are also responsible to recognize the value of the decomposing logs as habitat. The materials are harvested with as little impact to the surrounding area as possible. To the untrained observer, the raw material might easily be passed over and burned as firewood as it barely resembles the final product. Raw materials go through many stages, beginning with rough cutting blocks with a chainsaw and finishing with sanding and oiling. Searching for unique blocks is time consuming, but certainly rewarding to a company dedicated to using entirely reclaimed materials...and exciting to discover a diamond in the rough. We use only food grade mineral oil on our boards, and include easy care instructions with each board (also available in my shop policies). We welcome international orders, please convo and we will set up a reserved listing with accurate shipping costs.

5 out of 5 starsAmazing customer service, even though the original one I had ordered on here was no longer available, he was quickly willing to offer alternatives at no extra cost. Quick to respond and the cutting board, which was give as a gift, was amazing. I have nothing but good words to say about my experience shopping here.

1 out of 5 starswould be sending this back because and I am very disappointed in the size and price. it is not at all worth the amount i paid for it but seller said i had to return within a week of purchase! I will not be buying from this seller again.

Refund would have been immediate if there had been a problem w/ board, a defect/misrepresentation. The buyer failed to note measurements of 10”x5” in the listing, the word “petite” in title, or read the return policy; and did not contact until 10 days after receiving board (14 days after purchase). Offered to consider return but buyer did not want to comply with return policy. $38 price for a small handcrafted item made from a 400+ year old tree (over 125 years of growth rings on this item alone!!) seems reasonable, but I understand that people have different ways of placing or marking value. If you are considering a board and have questions about the size, please don't hesitate to contact me in advance.
