Please note as I am only using an android phone right now I am located in Bradenton Florida and not in Boise. My shop name has changed to Beach Bum Quilts. About

I create unique one of a kind items from the whimsy of my heart with the influence of my beautiful Florida surroundings.

I have been quilting for more than 40 years, since I was a child. I have been serious about quilting since 2002 and have been using a long arm to quilt my work since 2004. I had to take a break from a full time business owner when I suddenly became a single mom in 2010. Now that I only have 2 kids at home and have finally settled into a life with more leisure time I've decided to reopen my shop and do what I really enjoy. I'm sad to announce that recently my Nolting long arm has bit the dust; however, I am working hard to purchase a new long arm. Thankfully my two Berninas are still going strong so I can keep producing quality quilts.

I sold my first quilt along with an entire custom nursery set under the name Dragonfly Stitches in 2002. After a move clear to the other side of the USA I have decided my business needs to reflect all the changes I have made and have changed the name to Beach Bum Quilts.

Each one of my quilts is unique. I do custom work as well as using my own creativity to turn my treasured collection of fabrics into one of a kind quilts. I love novelty fabrics and my favorite patterns are scrappy. Recently I started to design and make quilts from my own patterns. These quilts are a most often a reflection of the beauty of Florida.

The story goes I have always sewn. I used to sit under my mother's cutting table with straight pins making voodoo dolls with the scraps that fell to the floor and making machine sounds with her machine. It's possible my umbilical cord was thread.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

Why are handmade quilts so expensive? The yardage and time needed to make a quilt vary; however, all the materials add up quickly. The average twin size quilt takes up to five yards of fabric. I strive to make each product with high quality materials and use the time necessary to make a durable product that is not just about keeping you warm or decorating a room, but will be an heirloom for your family. Big box store quilts are made with thin low quality fabrics and are made by machines which is why they wear quickly and are so cheap.
