Announcement   I hand-cast beautiful, and unique, polyester resin, and UV resin Eyes, and Irises for use in Art Dolls, Ball-and-Joint Dolls, Sculptures, Special Effects, Taxidermy, and Crafts.
I also offer up my own art work, sculpts, and Illustration.

There are so many variations from one doll, or project to the next, that it can be difficult to find the perfect fit. That is why I offer reasonable pricing on my hand cast eyes.

I offer all sizes/profiles, and ratios. Even in-between sizes like 7,9,11,13,15,17,19...etc. We can work together to get the perfect fit, and look, for your new dolls.

Just because I don't show a particular size/type of eyes, or irises listed, does not mean I do not have it in stock. Ask me! I could have it available.

I welcome you to browse my shop, and enjoy what I have to offer.

About

"I am an Eye Maker by trade, but I truly am an Artist by career."

Half of the year, I cast doll eyes, and irises for sculptors, doll collectors, and crafters. The other half of the year, I am doing what I truly love...Art!

Several years ago, I was sculpting a dragon, and I needed some really beautiful eyes for it. I browsed the web to search for something that would really compliment my piece. I think I must have searched for days, looking for the "Perfect Pair" of eyes...There really was nothing available; I browsed Taxidermy Shops, BJD doll supplies sites, I even visited some Blown Glass eye making places. I also visited many craft supply, and Hand Made sites like this place here on Etsy...I saw lots of nice things, but just not what I wanted.

I was so fed up, that I went back to the Studio, and began to play around with different materials, and began the trials, and errors of experimentation. It took about two solid years of hard work until I found a consistent formula that was able to stand up to the abuse of temperature, and chemical interactions that sculpting in different mediums would cause.

I had high expectations of quality to achieve the most life-like looks in my pieces. The attention to detail was very important to me. I made a batch of gorgeous irises, to use in more sculpting projects.

People all over the world loved my work, and they wanted to know if I could make some eyes for them. Every day, I got more, and more requests. I then made the decision to begin offering them to the public... That is when I opened up this Etsy shop.

Now...the word was out! Group sites, and doll clubs from around the world spread the news by word-of-mouth, that there was an artist out there who made the most beautiful, and unique eyes and irises at reasonable prices, and are 'Hand-Made'.
Every year the requests doubled, and I had to install a Casting Queue System in order to keep up with the demands. I never wanted to sacrifice quality, over quantity. But...I also did not want to "go mad" either in efforts to keep up.

I tried to hire help to get things done, but it never was really successful. People were easily bored by the tedious work, and attention to detail was of utmost importance. I have quality standards to keep, so...I had to continue on my own.

Because the work is difficult-especially in smaller sizes, my neck, back, hands and fingers can only handle so much abuse...I have devoted so much time, and labor to meet demands, that It takes its toll. Pain prompted me to visit the doctor. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, and Osteoarthritis. I decided to take a step back, and cut production to 6 months, each year.

It was a tough decision to make...but a necessary one, none the less. I still enjoy the ability to offer up some really gorgeous eyes for my clients.

I am artist with many skills; Mural Painting, Pyrography, Watercolor, Oils, Acrylic, Pen and Ink, Graphite, Colored pencil, Etching, General Crafts, Glass Painting, Floral Arranging, and Sculpture.

I am best at animal realism, landscapes, seascapes, and interpretations of sky, and clouds. I also enjoy Fantasy Art, People really love my Dragons.

My skills are mainly self-taught, I have many awards going back all the way through to Junior high. I believe I have wonderful creations to offer.

I newly have developed skills in designing, and creating artificial eyes for doll makers, crafters, as well as for costume, and special effects.

Payment
I prefer using PayPal for all internet concessions. I do not like to receive personal checks. Use of Credit Cards is acceptable through PayPal.

As of yet, I haven't included taxes, as for my business is very small. In future, I may have to include tax if my company expands markets.

***When casting season is open; Regarding custom orders, and commissions, payment is expected to paid in full, before an order is processed. No order large, or small will be shipped out without verification of payment in my accounts.
Shipping
***I only ship Once a Week. Usually on Tuesdays.***
Cut off for the weeks shipment orders are on Monday after 3p.m. EST. Any cart checked out After 3p.m. EST will be shipped out on the following week.

All Eye orders are shipped via First Class Mail. I use a bubble lined, padded envelopes to protect your purchases. Tracking numbers are assigned, however...Once a package has left the continental US, I have no further info. It is up to the purchaser to contact their postal service to find out what the status of their package is during transit.

I try to use the least expensive shipping method available; This way I can charge you, the client as little as possible. Sometimes it is difficult to gauge what the costs will be especially with non-flat rate shipments.
For this exact reason, my shipping & handling costs are priced at a FLAT RATE regardless of the postmark on the package.

Overseas postage rates have skyrocketed by 2016, and the MINIMUM flat rate I can charge is $13.00 for clients located in Europe. I cannot ship anything for less than that. I am sorry about that.

First class postage is based upon package size and weight. *This does not include handling charges.*
Handling charges include listing costs, paypal fees, fuel cost to post office and packaging materials.

I will Charge additional Insurance fees if requested or if I am shipping something fragile, or expensive, such as one of my sculpts, or a higher end pyrographical piece as they are One-Of-A-Kind, and not replaceable.
Refunds and Exchanges
Under the rare, proven exception, that an item is lost, damaged, or is NOT what the client requested, I will issue refund of the actual cost of the product. Shipping costs, and insurance cannot be refunded.

Refunds can be immediate if the transaction was made through PayPal. Refunds are NOT GUARANTEED if paid with checks or credit not done through PayPal. That is why using PayPal is preferred.
Additional policies and FAQs
All my Irises and eyes are all hand-made by myself, and not mass produced. Each design can be customized per individual request. I have hundreds of colors, and styles to choose from. Some designs can be made specific for AD type (full eye with whites) I have even gotten requests for whites that are black in color.

'Glass-like' is a general term. Most listings with that terminology, consist of various resins, of plastic. Several manufacturers have different formulations, and many eye makers tend to switch to different brands depending on availability.

The pros of using resin based eyes are that they are lighter, and will not scald, or burn polymer clays when they are baked together. They are softer than glass so as to better customize an eye; via sanding, or carving. And lastly, they are a much less expensive alternative to glass. (you may have already noticed that fact) $$$

The cons of using resin based eyes is that they will not stand up to temps higher than 325 degrees f. Also, being a resin, they can be affected by solvents, and will make them cloud, or even soften. They are a relatively soft material, so can scratch, or nick. Some people are sensitive to the ingredients of these resins, and may have a reaction to the fumes, if they are all heated in large quantities. Some people get a contact reaction such as a rash. That is why all my eyes are shipped automatically with coating, unless a client specifies otherwise.

I offer lines that are either Iris only, Or Art Doll (AD) 'with the whites'. They are mainly flat backed so as to be more flexible to the user for more varied applications. I do offer full-globe eyes as well, but they are much more expensive to make, and take more time, and effort. The pricing reflects that fact. (usually triple the cost).

My quality standards are as follows:

Casting with resins, has some issues with bubbles being trapped within layers of color, and effects. I lose between 40 and 60% due to defects that do not meet my personal quality standards. Small bubbles are allowed around Iris parts of the designs. However, any visible bubbles that exist inside the Pupils are not accepted. Bubbles that may affect the strength of the eyes are automatically junked, as they may cause splitting of the layers, and render them useless.

Usually, the smaller the mm size, the less defects occur. That is a good thing with casting. Most of my defective rates increase in percentage exponentially as the mm size gets larger. Eyes and Irises within the mm sizes between 4mm and 10mm have the smallest rejected rate, (less than 15%). The smaller mm of 3mm has its own difficulties with lack of detail and increased effort in finishing.

Customers must be aware that these products are hand-made, so every pair will vary in shade and quality, but I do my very best to make sure each pair matches, and are symmetrical.

Profiles of these flat-backed eyes are usually mid-range in height. I do offer *Lower Profiles as well, but am slowly phasing them out of my molds. Some of my mold sizes have higher profile eyes, but only a few. 'Paperweight' styles are currently not offered regularly. I do still cast them, only upon special request. Extras left over from orders will list in the 'Seconds/Sales' Section of this shop. *Lower Profiles are also available upon request. You can contact me directly if there is something special needed to be cast.
