Seed House 2016-- Still planting these.
A New Season
Last year was our first year selling dried flowers, having previously grown fruits and vegetables for farmers' markets, distributors, groceries, restaurants, auctions, etc.
This year, we're expanding the one acre of flowers to include more variety and some herbs.
We use the same methods for growing flowers as we did for vegetables, starting plants in a seed house in February, then moving them to a greenhouse in March. From there they are transplanted into raised beds. Every several days we check the plants for insects or disease, and, if needed, we spray affected plants with pyganic or spinosad, which are OMRI approved for organic growing. Most of the time, there's no need to spray at all. By the end of July, the flowers start blooming.
Once the flowers are blooming, we harvest late morning and bring them into the drying shed to be bunched and hung to dry. When dried, they're ready for bouquet-making and shipment.

Payment
Customers may a cancel a regular order before shipment; however, after shipment has been made, the customer must return the item in good condition before receiving a refund of the item's cost and the original shipping cost.
Shipping
IMPORTANT: As of September 22, 2016, all packages are sent priority mail without signature confirmation. If customers would like signature confirmation, they may request it for an additional shipping fee of $3 per box. Without signature confirmation, packages are typically left at the customer's door.
Packages are shipped to the address designated on the customer's PayPal account.
All shipments are marked as fragile at the post office; customers may request to pay an additional $10 fee per package for shipping to ensure extra care during shipping.
Shipping and handling fees are included in the shipping costs. Boxes cost $1- $3, and singe-item packages take 15 minutes or more to prepare for shipping.
Overpayment on shipping costs is generally refunded to the customer's PayPal account, unless double-boxing has been used or more than 15 minutes have been required for packaging the order.
International shipping is not available due to customs regulations that prohibit the shipping of many dried flowers because of possible transmission of pests and diseases.
