Dry Bones - Fear not the grinning skull

Dry Bones Studios specializes in creating wearable are that exhibits the intricacies and haunting beauty of the skeleton.

Inspired by dystopian futures, primitive pasts, and the relationship society has with death, each piece focuses on the artistry rather than the macabre aspects of bone.

Dry Bones continues the long tradition of morbid jewelry echoing the aesthetic of ancient reliquaries, Victorian mourning fashion, and tribal jewelry from around the world. Jewelry and accessories all are hand made and adhere to a "no harm" policy. All bones used come from scavenged or recycled sources. Any part of the animal then can be salvaged is utilized.

Fear not the grinning skull, for Momento Mori... remember you too shall die.

Hello, hi. Welcome. all that.
A few brief words..
I started DryBones because I believe there is little in this world that is more beautiful than bone.
Beautiful, detailed, works of art hidden within the covering of a body.

With each piece, I change as little about the original material as possible, and still make it a wearable piece.

If you're grossed out or outraged, please see the FAQ.

Additional policies and FAQs
A few FAQ's to go through----
Is this hypoallergenic? Do your pieces contain Nickel?
All pieces are nickel free unless otherwise stated. I strive to make everything hypoallergenic, and can substitute some metals with SUPER hypoallergenic material like niobium and titanium if requested.
Where do you get the bones/feathers/etc?
Typically the bones come from animals that have been hit by cars. Many bones also come from owl pellets that have been donated to DryBones by birds of prey rescue sanctuaries. Other bones are found or donated. Some are obtained through licensed taxidermy services and are a waste product of other processes. Many of my feathers come from friends who own or breed birds. A portion of all feather sales go back to feeding and caring for these birds.

**No animals were directly harmed for making these products. Our moral code is firmly Harm Not. It's simply the process of using something that would have otherwise have gone to waste. **

DryBones also strives to conform to all local and national regulations regarding the possession, collection, and use of animal parts.
Are they clean? Are they safe?
All bones are cleaned, sterilized, and put through a preservative treatment to increase strength and durability.
If they're so clean can I put them in my mouth?
I don't recommend putting them in your mouth, but a lot of people do. It's just weird..

Can I use porcupine quills as chop sticks?
Please do not. Porcupines are disgusting. They do not understand basic hygiene. The quill is porous and a very similar to hair. All quills are cleaned and disinfected before sale or use in DryBones designs. This does not mean they are food safe. Just.. Don't.
Do you do custom orders?
While we love custom orders, unfortunately, we are not currently accepting them at this time. We are accepting requests for pre-orders of normal DryBones stock, such as the Snake Hoops, through PM.
