About

My story

My interest in natural body care products began as I wanted to find the finest products to use on my kids tender skin.
But really my story begins long ago. My family has been the caretakers of a farm in Lancaster County Pa for five generations. As a child, I pledged I would not live here as other places seemed so enticing, however, the more years I have the more I feel a sense of gratitude to share in the heritage of the family farm.
As was a common practice at the turn of the 20th century, my great-grandmother, made soap for her family. With hair neatly tucked under the white covering nestled on her head and beads of perspiration on her forehead, she mixed and stirred all the ingredients in the large cast iron pot as it cooked over an open flame. Her heavy black dress was typical of the late 1800’s with long sleeves and billowing fabric that hugged her ankles. She tirelessly labored and patiently produced soap which would be used to clean the calloused hands of loved ones. Although it is likely to be a bit dusty, the big black pot still rests in the old fireplace in the summer house.
My ingredients may be a bit different than the lard and tallow she used, but the process and benefits of hand-crafted soap remain remarkably similar. I aim to produce soap that is aesthetically pleasing and yet maintains skin nourishing ingredients. Every bar is unique in its features, no two are alike, and each represents a small piece of artwork from start to finish.
