5 out of 5 starsQuick shipping and beautiful packaging. The conditioner smells amazing and works perfectly! Soft yet firm and coated my floss just enough that it wasn't overwaxy. Will be back for more once I'm out! Thank you so much for a wonderful product!

5 out of 5 starsThese beeswax sticks are the answer to a dream! Silicone thread conditioners haven't been working as I'd like, so I searched out beeswax and found this product. It is so convenient and fits my travel stitching bag perfectly.

5 out of 5 starsOne of the prettiest buttons I have ever curated for the kits of my needlework classes.
About DuchessFroufrou
I make stuff.
Enamored with shiny things, my best bud and I met for a girls' weekend at an obscure town in PA to look at vintage buttons...and ended up buying the business. In our dotage we knew we wanted to open some sort of sewing or craft specialty store, and believed this was the beginning. Unfortunately we are still separated by distance, and haven't realized that chapter of our lives. Slowly, but surely I open boxes of lovely vintage and antique buttons and photograph them to share with you.
As a recovering graphic designer, author, educator, and art director, I now find dyeing fabric in artful ways for use in handmade quilts, clothing, and home decor items a fun way to support fellow artists and sewists.
Check out my other shop http://www.wereduds.etsy.com to purchase products made from discarded, upcycled fabrics and furniture.
Enjoy!

Frequently asked questions
Fabric sizing details
I rip fabric into 1 or 2 meter lengths to allow for shrinkage during the dyeing process. The result is that the units are slightly longer than a yard (usually around 37 inches) and the width varies depending on the original weave and finish.
Because I rip the fabric into the standard units for sale, you can block the fabrics for accurately constructed quilts and home goods. NO CROOKED prints or drapes that hang at an odd angle with the goods you purchase from Duchess Froufrou!
Fabric Care instructions
All fabric has been soaked for hours (usually a couple of days) and washed in VERY hot water to remove residual dyes. Once in awhile some colors will let go of additional color after a period of time and therefore I recommend washing the fabric again with your favorite detergent upon arrival, and before combining with lighter colored fabrics.
Synthrapol and very hot water are recommended.
Custom and personalized orders
I am happy to entertain custom orders for both larger quantities of vintage sewing buttons and hand-dyed fabrics.
I cannot match colors of existing fabrics, as there are too many variables in the fabric and dye chemistry, but can dye fabrics to coordinate, or dye fabrics if you select the dye colors. Snow dyed fabrics will not match the color swatches of dyes. Expect some mottling of color in hand-dyed solids.
I am happy to hem fabrics or construct goods for you from the fabrics you purchase as long as you supply the pattern and accurate measurements. Custom quotes for individual projects are made upon request.
Wholesale availability
Many of the sewing buttons I feature are available in large quantities at a discounted price...especially in shell (mother-of pearl or ocean pearl) shirt sizes. Please contact me for quantity pricing.
Shipping
I use USPS for shipping unless otherwise requested by the buyer. In these instances the buyer takes responsibility for tracking and secure arrival of their order.
Packages sent via USPS are tracked through etsy. Those listed as "delivered" through Etsy are considered as such. If they are delivered to the wrong address or taken from your mailbox by an unsavory charcter, I cannot take responsibility, so please contact your local mail carrier or Post Office with the tracking number.
Insurance and signature confirmation is an additional cost. Please select these options at checkout.
Button Use and Care
The vintage buttons by Schwanda were manufactured prior to 1960 using techniques and processes that may not withstand modern laundry and dry cleaning. Some buttons may be made of polymers or coatings such as casein that are be susceptible to damage in water.
Please test buttons first before permanently attaching them to a garment that will be frequently laundered. If you choose to subject antique and vintage buttons to contemporary processes, please do so at your own risk.
I can not take responsibility for replacement or refunds of damaged or incomplete cards of buttons that cannot be resold. Buyers are responsible for return postage.
