About us

We founded duka dogo at the beginning of 2013, run a small tailor shop, this online shop and are represented in various markets.
Due to regular visits to and family relations to Tanzania (East Africa), we would like to market products manufactured there and in other African countries at fair prices in Germany and thus support the craftsmen, dealers and the local economy.

Felix Witte

In addition to his main job as a teacher at a Montessori school, he takes care of purchasing, customer contact, planning and the online shop.

Salome Mgaya

The creative mind of the company. She is mainly responsible for the product selection and as a trained seamstress (training in Tanzania) for the accessories and clothing from her own production.

Design

We publish the textile design ourselves under the label mishono.

With previous experience in tailoring, all fashion cuts have an African touch. In addition to dresses, skirts and blouses, we also have African-inspired accessories in our range; not only for the lady: hair rubber, utensilo, pouches, pot holders, aprons,...

Frequently asked questions

To the fabrics

Will I get the fabrics in individual pieces? No, if you order e.B 4 x 0.5 m, you will get 2 m at a time, unless otherwise stated. How can I wash the fabrics? You can wash the fabrics at 30° C in the washing machine, they sometimes "bleed" a bit at the beginning, but the color power is retained. They also become a little softer in the process. We do not recommend machine drying, but ironing at medium temperature is possible. What is Wax-Print?In this process, wax layers are first applied to the fabric. In these places, the fabric is then not dyed. This is repeated for each color until the pattern is ready.Where do the fabrics come from?Wax-Print, Java-Print: We buy them directly from small retailers
