Letterpress Cards and Tiles

1 Sale On Etsy since 2012

Announcement   I save practically all greeting cards I receive, I collect them in a box. So I was sad when I heard people throw away the cards they receive. But, it's true, what you're gone do with so many cards, right?

Well, I though I could create a card that doesn't get to be thrown away. A card that can hang as a little piece of art in the walls of the recipient. Maybe in their cube at work, or a little place by their computer desk, or on the fridge, or a magnet board, or hanging like a mobile in the middle of the living room. So, I created DUO, a card that hangs.

DUO is a thick tile (1/8"!) made out of 100% cotton paper. I engineered this stock specifically for this project because I wanted to create a paper-object (and couldn't find any suitable and suitable thick enough letterpress paper). It's the perfect card and gift in one. It has my doodles letterpressed by hand on one side and a blank back for your message. Accompanies a black envelope.

A cotton cord hanging perfectly from the center of the card makes hanging easy. A slip knot at each end end of the cord lets your recipient play with the height of the cord and also decided which side they want to hang it. Better yet: your message will be always there, close by, instead of buried in a pile, or in the trash.

Duo hangs in every way possible: by itself, in a cluster, hang-stacked to each other, as a mobile, one side, the other side, leaning on a shelf; or framed. It's easy, simple, and the doodles are about honoring everyday life as it happens to us all.

Pressed manually using my antique letterpress machine. All are made with museum quality materials; 100% cotton paper is archival and won't fade. All made in Seattle.

Welcome and hope you enjoy the items!

All illustrations are my originals. I'm inspired by domestic every day life, the simple things we never notice, but when in moments of peace.

I use linseed oil ink (just like Gutemberg did) and clean the presses with canola oil.

Everything is printed on either 100% cotton paper, so, treeless.

All art is hand-crafted and printed my 2 antiqye presses: an 1860's Peerless Press, and an 1870's Chandler & Price.

Both presses are manual, operated by both of my feet (one at a time, lol) at sounds of Brazilian tunes or Tibetan chants.

Feel free to contact me if you have questions. If a product you've seen before is missing, ask me about it, I usually have more. Cheers!
