About

Bringing sustainability to the fashion world.

There are a lot of vintage clothing stores. There aren’t many vintage clothing warehouses.

Located in Brooklyn, Dusty Rose Vintage is a giant warehouse of every vintage style and silhouette imaginable. The meticulously organized warehouse is home to 20,000 lbs of vintage gold, sorted in to countless rows of garments, from denim cutoffs to festival bags and tees galore.

And it all began decades ago, when owner/operator Maresa Ponitch was just eleven years old. A poor kid from Arizona with a punk rock older sister, she was no stranger to thrift stores. And she still remembers the first vintage garment she sold at a profit: a heather-gray, 1970s Volkswagen ringer tee, sold to a fledging new store in Phoenix named Buffalo Exchange. It was love at first score. Maresa plundered thrift stores compulsively into her teens, and the obsession became a profession. Hired to buy special vintage collections for Urban Outfitters, and to source their reconstructed garment lines, Maresa was soon in demand as a vintage specialist. Headhunted by two prominent New York clothing recyclers to transform their vintage operations, she decided in 2011 to start trading under her own brand.

In her own words:

I have the best job in fashion: I get to work with everyone. Textile designers, film/TV costumers, stylists, boutique owners, bloggers… And there’s never been a better time to wear vintage. Street fashion has shed all trace of fussiness. The newest generation of vintage lovers wear it without a rulebook. Everything is about styling, and one-of-a-kind pieces are the antidote in an era of fast fashion: an analog answer to copycat digital looks.

I have 20,000 lbs of vintage clothes in stock at all times, and this enormous selection gives buyers the opportunity to curate the look they need if they have the stamina to dig.
