Crafty Animal Lover meets Sewing Machine

UPDATE: It’s been a little over a year since I opened my Etsy shop and I have learned a lot!

I’ve made changes here and there to improve upon design, I have added ways to make myself more efficient, and embarked on some custom orders that taught me I have the tools to make things happen.

I learned that I had a lot to improve upon in my photography skills and and I am happy to say that I can see a world of difference between my first pictures posted and the the most recent product pictures I have put up. The biggest challenge is updating all the old pics to be as good as the new ones. Ah well, these things take time. Progress not perfection!

I participated in my first pop up shops and craft festivals where I met fellow makers in all craft genres. Some that were completely new to me including one of my favorites - a spin on vintage Girl Scout badges- hilarious narratives that help explain the odd pictures that were used for merit badges- SnarkyScouts check her out.

All in all, it’s been a great year and thanks to all you pet lovers or lovers of pet lovers who have been part of the Dux Dog fam. I hope you stay a while.

Happy New Year!! Here’s to a fab 2019!

Hello. I began knitting and crocheting a few years back. Maybe 5 years ago. I loved getting into difficult patterns and trying new techniques. I don’t believe in difficulty level. It’s all about taking the time to learn and hone your craft. Mistakes are part of the learning process!

This led me to my first sewing machine. After I had it for a bit, I decided to embark on making my puggles’ collars. I tried different material like fabric, fabric with scotch-guard, on webbing on interfacing but I didn’t like the way the fabric faded. So I ran across some ideas with ribbon and webbing. I also liked the look of the nickel and different color plastic buckles. I have so much fun picking out the ribbon and applying my own aesthetic to their collars. People saw the collars and asked if I had an Etsy page and I pondered the idea for a while. Then Voilà!! Dux Dog came to fruition.

Dux came from the clumsiness of me and my husband calling our dogs by the wrong name and then also combining there names. It sounds something like this: “Dux?! Tublin?! I mean Tux?? Dublin?!” There actual names are Tux and Dublin so naturally as parents do, we mix up their names from time to time. I loved the idea of Dux- short, sweet, and charming just like my pups.

There you have it. The creation of Dux Dog. Hope our collars bring some joy to you and your pup or kittie’s life.

🐾❤️ Much Love

I started knitting and crocheting a few years back and loved it. So then I said to myself, what else can I make? Then came the sewing machine. I am obsessed with my dogs so naturally the next step in my maker path was dog collars! Here we are!
