Announcement   Welcome to my Etsy shop. I am a full time artist whose studio is in Denver, Colorado. I am a professional, full time artist for the past 30 years with a BFA degree from the University of Utah.
The majority of my work is ceramic and bronze sculpture. In the past few years I have
become very interested in sculpting hand made art tiles in addition to my larger three dimensional work.

I am inspired by things I see in nature as well as inspiration from mythology and ancient cultures.

I decided to open an Etsy shop to make my work available to a larger audience for my art tiles and a bit later I will introduce my three dimensional sculpture.

Each photo that I post here on Etsy, is the exact photo of the tile that I have for sale. I do this
Because I use an electric kiln and use mid to high fired glazes on my pieces and each firing turns out a little bit different. I also like to experiment with new glazes and glaze combinations.

I sculpt my original tiles in oil clay that does not harden and when it is complete, I pour plaster around it to make a mold. After I remove the original which is destroyed in the process, I then press ceramic clay into this mold to produce a series of tiles from each design. After they dry, I glaze them in many different ways and then single fire them to a stoneware temperature which makes them suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

A PLANARIAN!!!!! What an amazingly beautiful tile! Love the oddity of subject... these were my favorite flatworms to watch under the microscope in grade school. I won't say how long ago that was! Super detail, pretty colors, and a very well made, heavy duty tile. Perfect whimsical accent to my collection! Thank you Dwight!

About

Art Tiles on Etsy

I am a great admirer of classical art and this is a dominant influence in my work. I choose this as a means to express my vision. I am impressed with art tiles that I have seen here in the USA and in Europe. My goal is to produce a level of work that respects this tradition.
