Eado Vintage in East Downtown Houston

This little store was started to be happier in my life doing something I love to do. I was inspired by my friend Vanessa and her etsy store Height of Vintage. I was in fashion school at the time and thought I would be very general and do handmade and vintage fashion and called the shop Purpose Fashion. I finally realized I am not programmed for the cut throat, stressful fashion world. I love to create and make things but selling them is another game entirely. It just came naturally to focus on the vintage clothing. I guess you could say I found my purpose. I love shopping for vintage. I love finding cool things and then researching my finds. I really love that I can buy these lovely things even if they don't fit. :) I live in a "transitional" area close to Downtown called EaDo....East Downtown Houston: The Art and Soul of the City. It has been a bad area for a long time but I took a chance and bought an old bungalow about 13 years ago. I remodeled about 5 years ago and built a shop behind my house for all my etsy treasures. They were filling every closet I owned in my very small house. It seemed an appropriate time to change the name of the store and get focused. After 3 years I outgrew my small shop. I opened a brick and mortar in May 2015. It is stuffed with all kinds of vintage goodies. It's a lot of work but a real labor of love. I would say about 1/6 of the items are here in the etsy store. If you've read this far please use coupon code: Take10 for 10% off anything in the store. If you live in the Houston area drop by the store at 4009 Polk St, Suite c, 77023 across the street from Kroger! Be sure to check out our second Sunday monthly event. Hope to see you soon!

Welcome to my etsy shop. Like fashion it is constantly changing and evolving. I strive to bring you fun, inventive, quality vintage fashion at reasonable costs. I am constantly shopping and researching to bring you authentic vintage....perhaps if we are lucky designer vintage or just unusual eclectic vintage. I look for great construction, fabulous fabrics and unique design. I hope you love my shop and visit often.I recently opened a brick and mortar store in East Downtown. If you live in the area be sure to visit 4009 Polk St Suite C Houston, TX 77023.

Please note: I don't always wash or dry clean an item. Sometimes I do if they have a stain or are really dirty. If it's dead stock I don't wash it because then it's not dead stock any more. I can't afford to have everything dry cleaned plus it's expensive here and they don't always know how to clean vintage items. I've had more than one thing ruined at the dry cleaners. If you want it cleaned or washed and don't mind waiting let me know and I will do my best. Dry cleaning will cost a fee. My prices generally reflect a discount for cleaning. I try to keep the prices as reasonable as possible. If I cleaned every item I'd be broke. I usually do repair the items. If I don't I'll let you know any issues as accurately as possible. I've had 3 years of college in fashion design plus I worked at the school in the Fashion Collection as the assistant curator. Part of my job was restoration. Just saying I can sew. Please convo with any questions or more photos and I'll do my best to answer promptly. Thanks for shopping!

Returns and exchange details
Please note: Etsy is basically forcing us to offer free shipping in order to be found in search. Shipping is not free. Some of my items are shipping included. If there is a return on an item with free shipping and I did not make a mistake you will be charged a restocking fee to cover original shipping. It is only fair.

Vintage clothing has had a previous life. It has been worn or stored before I received it. It will usually show signs of normal age and wear. I spend a lot of time to provide detailed measurements and accurate descriptions of condition. Check the measurements and compare them with measures of a garment that fits you. Give yourself some ease when measuring. 2" at bust and hip and 1" at the waist or compare to clothing you own that fits you. If you have any questions or want additional photos please convo me. If for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase contact me within 48 hours of receipt of your item. We will work it out. Returns are accepted on a case basis. If we do agree on a return I will issue a Return Authorization with instructions on shipping it back to me. It must be returned by the date specified in the RA which is 7 days from receipt. It must be returned in the same condition it was sent: unworn, undamaged, carefully packaged and with the inventory tag intact. Shipping fees are non-refundable unless I made an error in measures or description. I do want you to be happy and have a pleasant experience shopping at EaDo Vintage.
I accept PayPal and credit cards payments in full and up front. If you want me to hold something contact me and we will talk about it. I don't mind holding an item if you buy it. I do mind holding an item and you don't buy after I've held it for 2 weeks. Not cool. If you need me to hold it for longer than 48 hours I will need a deposit. Recently, I had a very unpleasant experience with a layaway so I am reluctant to do it again. I will consider it on a case by case basis. If you order and then change your mind and I haven't shipped it I will cancel the purchase. If it's shipped then we have a problem. I will still cancel the order but you pay all shipping and a 10% fee for time and trouble plus the charges to relist after I have received the item in a timely fashion. If I have made a mistake or error in the listing description then I will refund your money or offer you a discount. I sincerely want you to be happy with your shopping experience.
Every item ships with calculated shipping. This means I have entered the weight and size and etsy calculates the cost. You can choose the method depending on delivery time and cost. If over a pound it has to ship Priority. A small S & H fee is added to cover insurance and packing materials and the fee etsy charges plus delivery to the post office. Most of the time I break even.

Etsy is now pushing (forcing) "Free Shipping" but we all know it is not free. It is basically shipping included. I have many items to ship free. If there is a return and it's not my mistake there will be a restocking fee to cover my shipping cost.

Most items will ship within 2 days. If it is a rush for a special occasion let me know and I will be happy to expedite your order. You should select Express shipping when you need it fast. I ship first class or Priority USPS for domestic orders. Priority comes with insurance and tracking so your items are always guaranteed to arrive safely. I add insurance to first class and parcel post.

90% of my shipping materials are recycled. I like to ship delicate items in a box. This all adds to the shipping price.I agree shipping is ridiculous. I'm just trying to not lose money on shipping. If I have grossly over charged I will refund you. I wrap the item in tissue paper (new) and then in plastic. The boxes are recycled from the lady I work for. She loves to shop online (and now on etsy) so I reuse a lot of her boxes and bubble wrap. It may not always be beautiful but it is always safe and functional. The envelopes and tape and labels are expensive plus I drive everything to the post office for safety. I do try to make a dollar here and there to cover these costs. Generally, anything over $2 will be refunded to you.

I will be happy to ship internationally. Here in the US they will only track shipments until the time it leaves the US UNLESS you purchase Express shipping which is expensive. For this reason I will include insurance on all items so your item cost and shipping will be refunded if lost. It takes a while but you can purchase knowing I will be responsible for your lost items. I can not pay or know your country's import taxes, custom fees or VAT. That will be your responsibility.

Frequently asked questions
What size is it?

Vintage sizes are different than modern sizes. I usually try to size as xtra small 34" bust or less, small 34-36" bust, medium 38"-40" bust, large 42"-44" bust and XLarge 45" bust plus. Each listing should have measurements. These are taken laying flat and doubled where appropriate. Length is measured from middle top shoulder. Shoulders measured in front. Sleeve length from top shoulder. The best is to take something that fits you well, measure it and compare the measurements or take your measurements with under garments add a little for ease (about 1") and compare to listed measures. Many vintage items have easily tailored construction. If something is a little big you can usually have it taken in. Convo me and I can look at it for you.

What does it smell like?

I hate this question. Smell is a matter of opinion. I don't find the vintage smell offensive. Some people do. Do I wash everything? No I can not dry clean or wash everything. It's just impossible. I have too much and it would be cost prohibitive. I discount it if it needs cleaning and I haven't done it. I do hand wash a lot of the things that are hand washable especially if they have a stain. Everything is hanging together or stored together so even if I do wash it it may still have a vintage smell. If you love and buy a lot of vintage you know what I'm talking about. It goes away when you wash or dry clean. Steaming will also help on more delicate items. I usually steam prior to photographing. Please Ask to have it cleaned before shipping.

Wholesale availability

Yes I will discount if you are buying multiple items. The more you buy the better the discount. Convo me with a list and let me calculate the shipping and discuss a discount. Combining shipping with etsy calculator is always too high no matter what I do.

Do I give discounts?

Yes and no. Sometimes. Depends. You can convo me with any reasonable offer.

What is the condition?

Most vintage lovers understand that wearing vintage sometimes means accepting small imperfections. I really try to list all the imperfections to the best of my ability. Unless stated in the listing I repair most issues needing attention. I never say it's in excellent condition any more. If you look hard enough you will find something. When you are wearing a vintage piece most people will not be on the ground inspecting your hemline for pin holes. Keep that in mind. Each listing has a condition section where i list the issues and give my opinion of how noticeable they are for average wearing conditions. I also let you know what I repaired and how it came out. If you are super super picky you should probably buy new clothes. Just saying.

How do you clean vintage clothes?

There are entire books and blogs written on this subject. There were very few fabric content labels or cleaning labels on clothing before the 1970s. A lot of vintage was home sewn so no labels there. You have to first determine the fabric if possible. Go to VFG for help. In many cases I have done this for you in the first section of the listing. This is your guide to cleaning. Figure out the fabric then google the cleaning for that fabric or ask me and I'll give you my best idea. In short, don't put your vintage in the washing machine or dryer. I have a hand wash cycle and will occasionally wash sturdy cottons in the washer and line dry. Cleaning vintage does usually require more work but it is always worth the extra trouble.

Why buy vintage?

It's earth friendly.
The fabrics are awesome.
The construction is usually way better than modern clothing.
The design is original.
Everything at the mall is a knock off of something vintage.
Why buy a cheap imitation when you can buy the real deal?
No one else will be wearing your dress at the party.
