About

Artisan Jewelry with a Nod to Reusing

My parents made things. I was surrounded by it growing up: slipcovers and clothing, kitchen cabinets and furniture. Tools were important objects in my home. During high school, I learned the rudiments of jewelry fabrication, casting and working with sheet metal. Alas, my college did not have a jewelry department but I graduated with a degree in Fine Arts.

Fast forward through many years as a middle school art teacher, there was not a medium I did not touch or teach. Design, texture, and color continued to be the hallmarks of my artwork.

A class at Haystack School of Arts with Ellen Weiske brought me back to my jewelry roots and awakened a desire to work in that genre. Two more of their classes gave me the basis to create wearable pieces using traditional metal fabrication techniques. I especially love using the humble materials to create artisan jewelry that is colorful and playful.

My jewelry is made with cold connections but I am hoping to expand into using some soldering in 2014.
