Carrying on a 30+ year legacy of handcrafted garden ceramics, ebClayworks.

These whimsy designs are the result of a man’s lifelong love and passion for things that are out of the ordinary. Over the course of the last 30 years, Dan Ennis’ ceramic sun tiles have graced galleries and Sunday markets throughout the Pacific Northwest. You can find Dan’s creations scattered around many homes, gardens, and porches adding just the right amount of peculiar whimsy to their dwelling. He was fascinated by the fact you could make some pretty neat stuff out of mud. A Portland native of Irish decent, Dan was extremely cherished within the ceramic community. He was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor and you can see his wit in many of the faces he shaped. With a twinkle in his eye and an elf like smile, he would chuckle and always wish for the tiles to bring each and every owner their own bit of “Irish Good Luck”.

A beloved friend of ours, Dan created ceramics for those who could truly see what his faces were all about up until his very last days. In 2017, before Dan passed, he asked us if we would carry on his life’s work. It has become a great honor and privilege to be given the responsibility of carrying on Dan’s legacy. ebClayworks strives to keep Dan's tradition alive while creating new ideas that hold true to what he practiced.

Our home studio is situated on the north coast of Oregon. My husband (John) and I (Regina) Bentley have lived in the same house for 27 years and have spent much of our free time outdoors gardening. We have a passion for backyard organic vegetable gardening and growing all sorts of flowers. We share our garden with Buddy Duck, a Pekin duck, who thinks he is a dog, Tippy, our 17 year old lab mix, who you can find enjoying her elderly years sunning herself on the porch, and Bindi, our 3 year old Golden Retriever who we daily pay homage to because she is so demanding for love! And how can you resist those big brown eyes???? Throw in 3 great kids that love to visit, and well, you can say our life is blessed and very full!

When it comes to making our tiles each and every one is hand-pressed into a mold, removed, detailed, dried for several weeks and then bisque fired. After the first firing we then glaze the tiles with as many as 6 coats of color! We then put them through their final firing where the beautiful glazes adhere to the clay and their true colors are revealed.

We sincerely hope you enjoy our work as much as we enjoy carrying on the tradition of Dan's whimsy garden decor! Please favorite our shop and stay updated! Be the first to see what’s next out of the kiln, because even for us, it will be a surprise! There is always something one of the kind on its way!

With warm regards and wishes for “Irish Good Luck”
