Announcement   PLEASE NOTE: All in stock items, such as cowls and purses, must be ordered by midnight on December 18th to meet the USPS shipping deadlines for Christmas. Thanks!

Welcome to Ecouturière. I create handmade eco-friendly clothing and accessories with a vintage feel, but modern style, and everything is designed & sewn by me personally.

All the items in my store are made with natural and recycled materials, including organic fabrics, eco fleece, and upcycled fabrics. For hand-dyed items, I am careful to use the most eco-friendly dye processes available, such as non-toxic fixatives and natural and fiber reactive dyes. Some of my items also feature recycled fabric scraps. I am committed to creating clothes that are friendly to both the wearer and the environment.

Nature provides much inspiration, from the fields of wildflowers to the clouds lit by the setting sun. So, too, does vintage fashion inspire me. I have combined these interests to create the clothing and accessories here in my store.

I am always happy to answer any questions, so feel free to send me a convo. If you see something here that you like, but it's not in your size, I would be happy to create something just for you.

All of my pieces are designed and made by hand in my cat-friendly studio. If you are tempted to "borrow" my designs, please keep in mind that if you do so, I'll put on my pointy hat and call the flying monkeys. You've been warned.

This custom item was sent very promptly to me after ordering. Also, the seller was very quick to answer several questions I had about the fabric weight and color prior to ordering. I couldn't be happier with the actual bolero. It fits me perfect, and really is the type of item I could dress up or down. Love it!

Shop policies

Thank you for taking a moment to read my shop policies, as these policies apply to all purchases made through my Etsy store. I'm pretty laid-back and flexible, but this page will provide some basic guidelines for you.

All of my apparel is handmade by me using eco-friendly materials and practices. Here's a little bit about how I try to make my clothes and accessories as eco-friendly as possible.

Having grown up in a home with a huge backyard with a creek beyond the back fence, I have a well-developed affection for nature. I believe we must respect our ecosystem and all the creatures that share it with us. As a fiber artist, I try to make choices that reflect this respect. A fiber artist faces some issues, such as the impact of the dyeing process, that are different from those of other businesses. To minimize the environmental impact of my paints and dyes, I use natural colorants and low-impact fiber-reactive dyes. No heavy metals are used in the dyeing process and my earth-derived pigment paints are affixed using homemade soy milk instead of chemicals. I try to ensure that the companies from whom I purchase my fabric and yarn share my commitment to the environment and to the people who produce these materials.

Since dyeing and sewing both require power, we buy into a program that brings a portion of our electricity from alternative sources such as wind and solar power. I keep the studio thermostat turned down anytime I am not there, and everything is plugged into power strips I can shut off before I leave. During the summer, I can put my dye baths outside to let the sun cook them, just like sun tea. Any knitting or crochet power is provided by a free-range, organically-fed artist — me!

As I am the only member of my company, I personally keep a close eye on all the aspects of my ecological impact. I always do my best to ensure that I bring my customers clothing and accessories that are eco-friendly in multiple ways, that are as "green" as possible, and that are good for you and the planet.
