About

Glitter Laser Punk

Hi there! My name is Eden, and I am the designer and maker behind Edenki. I'm Australian, but have recently moved to Japan to pursue a long held desire of mine - to learn another language!

Edenki is a made up word – a combination of my name and the first couple of letters of my middle name. I like that it is both a part of me, but not me at the same time. It ended up looking a bit Japanese, so I pronounce it that way in my head (eh-den-kii).

I love to play and experiment with different materials – I collect specialty acrylics such as coloured mirrors, glitter, iridescent, pearl, and solid pastel acrylics appear a lot. I tend to hoard them as well, just like quilters and dressmakers have overflowing fabric stashes! It's a compulsion, I can't help it!

I've always been fascinated by skulls and skeletons, and the macabre in general. When I was young the only skull things available were really hardcore/death metal style, with lots of flames and snakes! I prefer to give them a twist and make them look beautiful, cute, or elegant. I celebrate and embrace contrast.

And, in that vein: I also love to make bird brooches??? 😂😂It all started when I made a Scarlet Macaw for my Mum for Mother's day - I was really stoked with how it came out, and posted a video of it to a Facebook brooch group I'd been stalking, cos I loved seeing all the beautiful brooches (and awesome acrylics!). Mum loved it, and the response from the wonderful brooch group was so strong that I decided to open up a few orders. I set a max of 50, and they sold out in an hour!

And now... here I am! I am so lucky that I get to make these special and more intricate pieces, for people who really love them! As a Maker, that's truly ideal 💗

Thank you for taking the time to find out a bit more about me and my work!

COMMISSIONS/CUSTOM WORK

I get a lot of requests for commissions - and I'm so sorry, but I just can't do them at the moment. A lot of work and time goes into each design, and I just have too much on my plate on to take commissions.
