Welcome to the online incarnation of Umami Designs.

My name is Emily, and I currently make earrings out of semi-precious stones and sterling silver wire. I may one day branch out into other forms of jewellery, but for now I'm sticking with earrings as a rule. I'm totally open to taking commissions for pendants or cuff links or whatnot, but I'm essentially an earring girl. All hooks and settings are hand-sculpted by me and intentionally formed so as to complement the stone, making each pair a singular work of art. I never make two pairs exactly the same, so you might say that every single piece I sell is one of a kind. I like that my earrings have this kind of individual character to them, since I firmly believe that earrings should be something to suit the unique personality of the wearer, and that's an impossible condition when you've got multiple, identical pairs off a rack, or out of a mold. I want earrings with life. (And, therefore, if you have a pair of earrings that you'd like a hook made for, I would be more than happy to help.)

Accepted payment methods

Payment
Payment, for the moment, is exclusively through PayPal. That might change as I grow more accustomed to Etsy and the process of selling online, but for now that's the way it is. I would prefer to have payments made in full and within twenty-four hours, but if you need some extra time, please contact me. If I don't hear from you, however, I will cancel an unpaid order after this time. If you wish to cancel an order, please contact me as soon as possible. I'm still learning the ins and outs of PayPal, so hopefully everything goes smoothly, but if you have any questions or concerns, again, don't hesitate to convo me.
Shipping
I make my bi-weekly jaunt to the post-office on Monday and Thursday, and items will be shipped on the posting-day immediately following receipt of payment. Similarly, custom items will be shipped as soon as they are completed. If you need your parcel by a certain day, contact me and I'll see if we can work out an alternative.

I am happy to ship within Canada as well as internationally, and if you'd like a shipping quote to your country please convo me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Customs fees upon a parcel's arrival are the responsibility of the buyer.

Each item is wrapped with love and care in a smoke- and pet-free environment, and is shipped, unless otherwise noted, within a week of purchase. From September until April, purchases will be shipped from Vancouver, Canada. During the summer months, they will be shipped from Saskatchewan.
Refunds and Exchanges
Unfortunately I cannot take responsibility for lost or damaged items(though I do my utmost to ensure that neither is a probability), but I will be happy to alter any item or exchange any unworn item you are not satisfied with as long as you cover the shipping costs. If, for whatever reason, you have one of my pieces that you would like repaired or replaced, please convo me and we can go over your options.
Additional policies and FAQs
Etsy provides a wonderful opportunity for customers, artisans, and crafters to work together, so please, if there's anything you're wondering, imagining, or not sure about, give me a shout. I will be more than happy to hear from you.
