It all started with a plastic flower pot and egg cartons...

All my entire life I loved crafting. I knitted, crocheted and sewed for myself and my loved ones. I enjoyed decorating my home and designing beautiful landscapes in my garden. Five years ago I also discovered a love of papier-mâché. It happened by chance. One day I realized I had way too many pens and pencils in my house. I decided to make a pencil cup for them. I found a simple plastic flower pot and thought I could use it as a pencil cup. However it looked really boring and kind of ugly. So, I decided to decorate it. I had a couple of empty egg cartons that I was about to throw away. I soaked them in water, mixed everything thoroughly, added white glue and left this papier-mâché "dough" overnight. The next day I started my first papier-mâché project. I covered the flower pot with papier-mâché mixture and decorated it with twine. When the pot dried out I hand painted it and covered with lacquer. The pencil cup turned out very nice. My family loved my first papier-mâché creation and encouraged me to make something else.

I continued working with paper and in addition to pencil cups I made several other home decor items: papier-mâché butterflies, flowers, miniature pictures, and Christmas tree ornaments. I shared my creations with friends and family members. They all loved my hand made gifts.

When crafting I always get inspiration from the beauty of nature. My miniature pictures are just one of the examples of such inspiration. I use natural materials to decorate them (such as bark, cones, grape vine and even moss).

During these 5 years I have been perfecting my papier-mâché skills and techniques. One thing remained unchanged though: when making my crafts I use upcycled materials such as egg cartons, plastic bottles (when I make pencil holders) and recently I started upcycling wine corks as well.

Recently I was encouraged by my family to open a store to start selling my papier-mâché crafts. And here I am, a proud owner of EggoMache, eager to introduce my creations to you!
