Shop policies
SIX MONTH QUALITY GUARANTEE
I'm an experienced jewelrymaker, and I do quality control on every item before listing it, but I'm always trying out new methods and materials, and occasionally my work isn't up to normal use. If that happens within the first six months after I shipped the item to you, I'm very sorry. If the construction of an item fails (for example, if a wire breaks, or a bead end comes loose) I require a photo of the defective item so that I can understand the issue. Once I receive the photo I will resolve the issue in one of the following ways, depending on the value of the original item compared to the cost of shipping and the nature of the damage.
- Return and repair: (within North America): I will send you a return label so that you can return the item for my repair. I can usually repair and return items within a few days unless an important bead has gone missing that I have to reorder. (Outside North America): Usually shipping is too expensive and slow to make Return and repair feasible; it depends on shipping cost and the uniqueness of the item.
- Local repair: Some issues (such as a jump ring that has popped open) are extremely easy to fix. If you're willing, I can coach you through doing it yourself via Zoom, or I can help you find a local bead shop that does such repairs. Message me for approval beforehand and I will reimburse you for any cost you incur for that repair.
- Replacement: if the value of the item is low compared to the cost of shipping, or if the defect caused loss of the most expensive components, it may make the most sense for me to make and ship a replacement to you at no extra charge. The replacement will rarely be precisely the same as the original, because I exploit natural variations in gemstones and don't always have precisely the same materials on hand, but I will do my best to copy the original.
- Refund: If, after we have discussed the issue, both of us agree that repair or replacement are not appropriate, I can issue a refund. Depending on the cost of shipping relative to the value of the item, I may require the return of the damaged item (return shipping paid for by me) before issuing you a refund.
WEAR AND TEAR
With heavy use, components like clasps may wear out or break; that's why my quality guarantee is only for six months. If something wears out after six months, I'm happy to do repairs if the buyer pays the cost of shipping both ways. If the repair is simple and the parts cost less than $1, I'll do the repair work for free; otherwise, I'll give an estimate of my cost and require payment before proceeding.
A unique issue to some of my jewelry is wear and tear on soft stones. Materials that can be scratched by contact with metal, including apatite, fluorite, calcite, selenite, dolomite, kyanite, rhodochrosite, and other minerals with a Mohs hardness of 5 or less may get scratched or dulled with wear. It's an inherent quality of the mineral that can't be helped. If some of these softer stones crack or are otherwise badly damaged during wear, I'll gladly repair the damaged item according to the terms in the preceding paragraph.
