Additional policies and FAQs

Buying vintage without seeing how it fits on your body is risky, so you should be comfortable with your purchase and the possibility that it might not look how you think it will once it's on your figure. Dresses were cut in unique ways, often handmade to fit a certain person, so waist lines and length might sit somewhere you didn't expect. That said, the imperfect fit often just needs a hook and eye shifted or a quick dart or hem by your local dry cleaner who does alterations.

If you see something you love but aren't sure about a detail in the listing, please email us and we're happy to investigate a bit further to see if we can help before you make your purchase. If you're in the San Francisco area, please drop into our shop at 3075 17th Street to try things on and say hello.

Measurements are taken as follows when the garment is flat:
Bust: inches from arm pit to arm pit, then doubled
Waist: inches from smallest part of waist line, then doubled (some have stretch, so you'll see a variation based on the natural bunching to a comfortably stretched point).
Hips: The largest part of the hips, about 7-9" below the waist on a garment, then doubled.
Length: From the shoulder to the bottom of the garment.

These measurements are taken with a flexible measuring tape and we take care to be precise. However, because different materials stretch and fall differently, please note that not all items will fit you exactly how the measurements are listed.

Our store is stocked with beautiful garments that have been well preserved over time, but most vintage has some level of visible wear and love when inspected closely. We make sure that any flaws that can be repaired are fixed before we put anything on the floor (hooks and eyes replaced, buttons in tact, etc). However some items have wear that can’t be repaired (tiny holes in a silk printed dress, some fading around the edges of a leather bag, etc) and we love them so much we’ve decided to include them in our collection.

We do our best to list any other details and notes about the condition of the item in each listing, including color description, as photos aren't always exact. Please look both at photos and read the descriptions so you’re informed about what you’re purchasing.
