OK, so you might ask, "What exactly is a book thong!?" . . . Well, the bead cord sits inside the crease of the book, thus the name "thong!" The bookmark will keep your place without damaging the pages or spine. The beaded ends extend outside the top and bottom of the book.

I have always loved books, and during my childhood summers, our mom encouraged us to read for half an hour after lunch. We curled up on our shady screened porch with a book. It is still a treat to start a new novel.

I first made a beaded bookmark for my mom, using colors to represent the birthstones of her eight grandchildren. I starting making more for friends, and buying more beads, and making more bookmarks. Well, you can see where this is going. . . .

And one newly expectant mom wanted a bookmark to let her mom know she was going to be a grandma! You can pick charms and colors to make each book thong personal and unique.

My husband and I grow herbs and lots of veggies in the yard of our old colonial farmhouse--and we have egg-laying chickens, too--thus, the name "farm" in my shop title! But I still like a bit of elegance, so many of my creations have silver and pearl accents.

I have science degrees and have worked at wonderful places including the Bronx Zoo. I have been a science editor for children's nonfiction science books for over fifteen years, which I continue to do as a freelancer. But I can now call myself a full-time artist because my husband and I quit our day jobs in 2012! We just opened an Etsy shop together, selling our handmade hardwood-framed magnetic bulletin boards.
