About

My handmade burlap wreaths are all made in my home. I get burlap and other substrates from all over the country. See, a lot of craft shops and stores have only regional and seasonal materials that may only be available for a single season. Therefore, I have to travel around the United States in order to find specific materials that have that feel and look that makes them come together in my own unique designs. While I do some of my travelings on my own, my husband is an active duty service member and we travel together. So from time to time, you may see materials that are a little more excited than your used to seeing in crafting. And I get to bug my husband about going into crafting stores while he is TDY. I enjoy making each burlap wreath whether it is seasonal, sports related. or completely customized to fit a guest's wants.

What is Coconut Wax and Why do I use it?

First of all, the common candle you find at a retail store is Paraffin wax. Paraffin wax is a petroleum product and produces a lot of soot when burned. That isn't good for you or our environment. A common alternative in the crafting lifestyle is Soy wax. While Soy wax burns a little cleaner, last longer and holds sents better than Paraffin, it is not nearly as good a candle medium as coconut wax.

Coconut wax is the best wax for candles. Coconut wax comes from the cold-pressed coconut pulp in the same way coconut oil is harvested (B, 2016). Coconut wax burns at lower temperatures than Soy and Paraffin so a Coconut wax candle will last a lot longer. Coconut wax is also organic and more eco-friendly to produce so coconut wax candles, when made with the right scents, are a smarter buy. They also hold scents equally throughout the medium. So a coconut wax candle will smell the same full fragrance in the first and last hour of its life (Kelp BK, 2017).
