Frequently asked questions

Help! What size should I select?

For necklaces, 16" usually sits around the collarbone, 18" is considered average length, and 20" and 22" have a longer feel to them. How a necklace fits will also depend on your neck size, so I always recommend using a piece of string to measure your ideal length.

For bracelets, 7" is most common. Add at least 1/2" to your wrist size!

Rings can be tricky to measure at home – the best way to determine your ring size is to visit a jewelry store and ask them to help you. But you can also use this chart: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring_size (My rings are very thin and usually fit better a half size smaller than normal.)

Custom sizes are always available, as well! Just leave a note during checkout.

And exchanges are always okay :)

Can I have this piece customized?

Customization is available depending on the type of request. Send me a convo and I'll let you know if it's something I can do! (Please note that I don't offer stamping or completely custom jewelry.)

Will my jewelry come gift wrapped?

Your jewelry will be individually packaged in a little kraft gift box, tied with black ribbon and stamped with the Elephantine logo. It's all ready for gift giving!

Orders are shipped in bubble mailers; large orders may ship in a box instead. I ship via USPS mail and always use a tracking number.

Is your jewelry safe to wear in the shower or pool?

I don't recommend wearing jewelry (mine or anyone else's!) in a pool because chlorine can damage it.

I've worn Elephantine jewelry in the shower and it's been fine – no tarnishing or turning green – but I still do recommend taking it off before getting in the shower, to keep it looking its best.

What is 14k goldfilled? Will it turn my fingers green?

14k gold-filled, which I use for the vast majority of my gold jewelry, is higher quality than gold plated but not as nice (or expensive!) as pure 14k gold.

Gold-filled jewelry has a layer of gold over a base metal. It's tarnish resistant, and it doesn't flake, rub off, or turn your skin green like gold plated jewelry can.

In other words – it's high quality while still being affordable.

I bought a pair of earrings from you and lost one. Do you sell singles?

Yes! To purchase a single earring, all you have to do is purchase the set of earrings again and leave a note during checkout that you only need one. I'll then send you a refund for half of the earring cost.

It says there's only one in stock. Can you make more? Do you offer any discounts for bulk orders?

Yes and yes!

I almost always have the supplies to make multiples of the items you see in my shop. Send me a convo with what you're looking for and I'll confirm.

A bulk discount is available for orders of 3 or more of the same item. You're welcome to use the coupon code "BULKJEWELS" for 20% off your order.

I need this ASAP for a gift! How quickly do you ship? How long will it take to receive it?

Most orders ship in 1 business day, but sometimes it can take me 2 or 3 days, if I'm extra busy.

However, if you need something ASAP, and you order early enough in the day (ideally before 1PM PST) and leave a note during checkout about the urgency, I'll do everything I can to get your order in the mail that same day.

By default, I ship via USPS First Class Mail, which typically takes 2-5 days to arrive, depending on where you live. (I ship from Seattle, Washington.) There's also an option during checkout to upgrade to Priority Mail, which almost always arrives in 2-3 days.

Send me a convo if you have any questions!

How do I clean my jewelry?

Here's the method I recommend, for both sterling silver and 14k gold filled jewelry: line the inside of a bowl with aluminum foil, then add a spoonful of baking soda and hot water. Add your jewelry and gently move it around so that the foil touches as much of the jewelry as possible. Optionally, you can then use a toothbrush to gently scrub the jewelry. When clean, rinse your jewelry with water and pat dry with a clean cloth.
